Rumor: Larkin requests trade

3 years now theyve had ridiculous collapses were theyve shit the bed down the stretch. Yzerman built a team good enough to be first place after 50 games, then the players disappeared down the stretch AGAIN
Agreed. Including the ones that were brought in by the current GM.

I don't think Yzerman would trade him for just the #2 Pick and nothing else

If Yzerman declined this trade I wouldn't just want Yzerman fired, I'd be rolling the trebuchet into position.

You really think 30 year old Dylan Larkin is worth more than 18 year old Ivar Stenberg? Holy shit, if that's the case -- if Larkin could give us not even a top 2 pick but a top 5 pick in this draft -- then Larkin's request for a trade is the best news I've heard in a long time.

Please, someone back lhsfolf19 up on this and give me hope.

It's more about politics now than anything. It's a how the hate train really gained steam.

shit, I didn't even think of this. this might actually be one reason Larkin wants out. And why he might take a team like Utah, say. Because a significant number of Detroit's fans were triggered when he was in the same room with the director of the FBI, and then, gasp, POTUS.

Maybe I should start looking for a new team with more tolerant fans.

So you met larkin at a bar, and he spilled the beans to you that Chris illitxh is keeping larkin around as a cash cow and handcuffing yzerman?
Cash cow is my opinion and not fact because he’s a local boy. Larkin was going to be too old for the core coming up. Ed, Seider, Raymond, xxx, and xxx should have been the core.

Why would keep a player if he’s drinking after away games? Great leadership. He could get the crap knocked out to him and be worthless playing a game.

Yeah, his draft picks have been terrible, Mo’s a flop. Give me a break, touch grass, pop a Zyn if that’s your thing. He’s had no luck with the lottery and was dealt a dumpster fire floating in a fiery river of diarrhea of a hand. He’s absolutely made some questionable moves, but to suggest he’s been terrible is ludicrous.

Holland completely imploded as a GM over 10 years from 2009-2019. He completely flopped once having to reconcile the pressures of cap and was caught flat-footed again and again while the team fell into a disastrous of declines, and somehow managed to draft the softest bunch of garbage players assembled in 1st round picks as one could imagine in the darkest timeline.

Holland left Yzerman with a steaming diaper filled with parasite-ridden Indian food of a team in 2019.

Yzerman has had to manage a rebuild with no lottery luck and a sub-minimum viable trash group of players/assets/chips from day one and a 10-ply “captain” with a lowercase “c” that loves to cry to Helene.

The two best opportunities we had to get over the hump and start building a successful culture though, the super soft 10-ply “captain” disappeared when it mattered most and had the audacity to whine to the media about it and point fingers.

Maybe start your book club reflection there.

Larkin is by far the best C the Yzerpain has ever had, dude hasn't even been able to acquire a 2c his entire tenure,

Sorry if this was brought up already but would you rather have EP40 and Mctavish or Larkin and whatever it would take to get EP40? Looking for more yes or no answers then 3rd options.. but have at it how you will.

I mean, outside of top 6 overall picks, Yzerman's picks have been absolutely terrible. We're talking amongst worst drafting in the league terrible. His trades have been absolutely terrible, his rosters have been terrible, he's had 3 coaches in 7 years, thats terrible. Free agency? You guessed it, terrible. Holland had a streak of 25 years in the playoffs that for better or worse, he was trying to extend. Yzerman had free rein to rebuild the team and somehow, it's further from a cup than Hollands team. Being kind is saying this rebuild has been an absolute failure. Being realistic is saying this is the worst rebuild since the lockout, and Yzerman has brought Detroit down to a bottom 3 franchise in the league. We're now the laughing stock of the league

McTavish+1st or Solberg is my absolute dream.
Matty Beniers + 1st rdp.

Quinton Byfield + 1st rdp.

McTavish + 1st rdp.

I'm just hoping for something along those lines and then the pieces like DeBrincat/Faulk/Gibson get sold for good prices. The path to being good just got so much harder.

Right. Which is what i was referring to as the nonsense you made up.

If we’re doing this, no point in half measures.

I like that deal, Larkin for McTavish + Solberg.

Then trade Edvinsson to San Jose for Misa.

Then trade Debrincat for a haul. Trade Faulk as well.

Kane walks. Several of Rasmussen, Appleton, Copp, Compher shipped out for whatever it takes.

Full on youth movement next year and be really bad to draft high and then be in a much better position to hit the ground running the following season.

Kasper-McTavish-Raymond
Lombardi-Misa-MBN
Bear-Danielson-Genborg
Mazur-Copp-Shine

AlJo-Seider
Chiarot-ASP
Solberg-AnJo
Wallinder

Cossa
Gibson

That’s a team I can see being really bad next season, giving us one more high lottery pick, but ready to take a leap soon after. Tons of runway, lots of developing high end talent, and that’s not even counting Plante and Augustine who will likely join after next season as well.

Also with likely at least a couple 1sts for trading Debrincat and Faulk, in addition to our own high pick, we could have several 1sts in next year’s draft.

If that's the case.....Does Cat sign a contract extension this summer?
No way; unless he just like playing here because of family, and some guys are like that.

I think he's following Larkin out the door this summer, midseason/TDL.

The ripple effect of Larkin demanding out is no one wants to play here unless they have to. I woulnd't expect a Kane resigning. I wouldn't expect a good UFA unless it's a multi-year/multi million dollar overpay for even guys like Mccaron/Greer.

Simon Edvinsson might sign a small bridge deal to become a UFA so he can leave vs sign something long-term. This is bad, unless the trade looks good which. idk.

Please put down the pipe. I didnt realize that MBN, Cossa, ASP, Plante and Augustine were all terrible. I didnt realize that Debrincat was terrible. I'm sure all of those assets that Ottawa received for him have put them over the top...Gibson, also terrible. Kane signing, terrible. Yzermans team, with its .561 pts % this year is worse than Hollands last team with its .451 %. Sure sure....

We are going to get a decent package for Larkin. He doesnt have to be moved. Do you really think that he wont accept almost anywhere else now that everyone knows what a bitch he is and when the C gets put on Mo? Yzerman will not be bullied here. Captain Charmin is not going to have the upper hand in this situation whatsoever.

I've often wondered if there's a 'split' within the locker room...Larkin on 1 side and Cat/Kane on the other?

With the way this team has played it wouldn't surprise me 1 bit.
I think theirs been some awkwardness between the veteran side and the young guys in their 1-2 years. Veterans seem to do what they do for good or bad every year and everyone else has to fit around it
