Rumor: Larkin requests trade

Not necessarily.

He has five years left on his contract. We have five years to trade him. Do you want out? Better help us find a deal where we don't get f***ed or it's gonna be a loooonnnngggg five years.
100%

All of Detroit now knows that the hometown kid, the hero, D-Boss, doesn't wanna be on the hometown team anymore. It's now in Larkin's best interest to facilitate a trade and be open to going anywhere, whether that be Carolina or Chicago, or he's gonna hear it from fans on opening night.

Uhhhhhh. Why would we add Johansson and Cossa. McTavish+McQueen+Solberg is closer to the low-end of a package to acquire Larkin than something that would require Detroit to add.
I just dont agree with that. Those are 3 top end assets and Larkin is almost 30. I think Larkin by himself would probably only return 2 of those 3 pieces, tops. Ducks fans think only McT and maybe a Zellweger type. Obviously, we dont need a Zellweger type so why not sweeten the pot and get those other more valuable pieces.

I dont know what a kd is. Im just not going to attack the guy
1) The majority of us do appreciate what he has done here but he’s overrated and overvalued.

2) Comparing Marner and Larkin hate is ridiculous. Didn’t you ever read the Maple Leaf hfboards? No. I think Marner was getting death threats. If I remember right. Complete Bull on your part.

I read the Toronto’s boards for entertainment and this is G compared to Toronto's talk and that after Larkins trade request.

3) He didn’t give his all he forgot how to play hockey after March 1.

Kevin Durant is a basketball player that has sock accounts on twitter that he defends himself on and doesn’t identify himself. Seems like something you are doing.

Literally none of McTavish, Mcqueen or Solberg are "top end assets". I don't think you can confidently project a single one of them into a top line role. Larkin can be stapled onto a top line for the next 2-3 years minimum and if you deploy him as your 2C you have one of the NHLs best 2Cs for the next 5 years.

So Yzerman brings in bunch of “character” vets so the team doesn’t have a losing culture, teams misses playoffs each year, misses out on chance to get some top prospects, and then the #1 C asks for a trade. Don’t seem him lasting much longer either
This 100%. This is Yzerman’s mess. Him and his staff need to go.

This man held this franchise back in so many ways we don’t even realize yet. Holland era guys should have been the first ones out the door
Larkin could have traded himself? Take it up with Yzerman.

This is where Yzerman either earns a longer run as GM, or where his tenure ends. I didn't think Yzerman would/should be given the opportunity to make this type of trade after the lack of success, but here we are. Yzerman has to get it right. This is a legacy defining time in his GM career.
Yzerman should go now. He’s overseen all of this. Maybe give a new GM a chance to get the most from a Larkin trade.

Yeah, but I don't know how many times the guy should be able to fail before he isn't the one making these massive decisions.
It seems some would say endless because it’s Yzerman. At this point, he should be fired along with his management team.
Not to defend yzerman, because he created the problem, but I don't see how any GM can clean this mess up quickly.
That may be, but we shouldn’t stay complacent and continue to dig the hole.
Yzerman really shouldn’t be in charge of a reset. If that is what this brings on a new GM should be in place
Agreed.

You're gonna have to define top end assets. Who would you put as comparable value wise in Red Wings org currently?
