Rumor: Larkin requests trade

You want 7 more years of the Yzerplan, be my guest.
I’m not going to argue with you considering you clearly aren’t going to be swayed into a different perspective. Your posts have this smug tone and everyone including SY is dumb. It’s not worth my time.

FACT IS: he’s being a quitter in March and has done nothing to help. His numbers portray that. He whines on the ice. Dives. He’s been a problem too.

I said NEVER GIVE HIM THE C!!!!!! Yzerman to Lidstrom to Zetterberg to Dylan Larkin!!!!!!

Who did we have on the team that was on the level of any of the first 3? No one. Dylan was the best player we had at the time capable of wearing the C. Go easy on the revisionist history. I understand for years you haven't liked Larkin but he was our best player at the time capable of wearing the C.

At least we can finally pivot as an organization. Montreal, Ottawa and Buffalo all passing us and a looming resurgence next year by the Panthers basically means we were destined to be on the outside looking without a huge move. Now we get to rebuild around Mo and be bad enough next year to get that elite talent we desperately need.

At this rate Seider will be his 30s before we actually have a chance.
He turns 25 in 2026. Return is going to dictate whether they can get to the PO while he's in his 20's or not. If they get recenty drafted guys from the past 1-3 years, then there's a chance. If it's going to be draft picks that are the key return, then probably not.

There's a reasonable chance that Yzerman has a few buyers and gets a quality return for Larkin thus keeping the Wings competitive and a shot in the playoffs.

I don’t.
ADB is a very prideful player. I actually think him and Kane both re-sign.

And we swap Larkin with someone like Hischier and maybe some other very solid bottom six player.

If ‘something’ like that happens it might not be all bad.
Hischier needs a new contract. He's a UFA and could walk next offseason. I don't see a scenario where he would want to re-up with Detroit before even playing a game here. He's better off going the UFA route.

I said someone like him.
Could be McTavish, etc.

But I agree. Sort of. SY isn’t trading for an expiring player true.

We all found out how much of a travesty not trading for Hughes has cost us. And QH still had an extra deal and SY didn’t even do that.

So yeah maybe not Hischier… because same situation with Hughes. But Larkin wanting out changes things and SY can’t be stubborn. Take the best possible package and move on.

SY and Larkin clearly have a horrible relationship it seems.

Apparently this will be his final season under contract for Hischier and there's no indication whether he'll sign a contract extension this summer...He might be trade bait - new management in NJ might also feel the need to make a move and swapping Larkin/Hischier would benefit both teams.

Yeah I edited my post.
SY wouldn’t even trade for Hughes who had an extra year still, so Hischier might be ruled out.

However, it’s different because Larkin is requesting out and might force SY hand.

I would like to think Nico would re-sign. He’s young and he’ll fit with Raymond.

If we are getting players that are any older than Hischier this fanbase should riot. We need to get younger and that is the oldest player I want to see included in a package for Larks.

Indeed - however Steve might be limited with what he can pry away from rival GM/s...Hopefully there's a bidding war and there's options.

So if Larkin has been requesting a trade for some time now, why did we spend so many assets on Justin Faulk?
1st time I had seen a sullen DBoss was when his buddy Bert was traded to Boston...Since then he appears to be moody when things don't go his way, or as hoped...Some here mentioned a previous trade request - might that have been after Bert getting shipped out?

In the works for a while? Yes let’s trade all that for Faulk then 😂 … I’m thinking Yzerman leaked the trade request info now since Larkin and his agent weren’t too pleased 😂 f Dylan were not trading him for scraps otherwise he can come back to Detroit and be quiet

Isn't that mostly being suggested by the people who claimed Larkin was going nowhere because he had a NTC? The people who suggested Larkin would be here longer than Yzerman?

I mean Larkin has been unhappy for some time, there's no disputing that, but the people who cover the team have never given any indication that he's pushed for trades. He's pretty much just moped. Then suddenly, there's this idea that he's been asking out for years?

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt my guy.
