Pretty sure the NHL is not going to like all the Evander Kane good only for Vegas vibe going around.

Buffalo will want too much for him. He's major damaged goods though, so they shouldn't expect much.

Pretty sure the NHL is not going to read or care about anything on this website.

Soooo, there's that.

Shattenkirk for Kane (50% retained), Dailey, 2017 1st (lottery protected), 2017 2nd.

Who is Dailey?

I'd do Shattenkirk for Kane and a 1st though. As long as he was willing to sign an extension here.

If you meant Bailey, then no way. Not trading Justin Bailey.

Absolute disaster of a trade. Could have gotten so much more for Myers. just add to the list of terrible trades for GMTM.

totally understand your second point there... I do think he can be an effective player for the Rangers though, not quite as valued as nash but he really is much cheaper. And the 1 year less on the contract term is huge

maybe Buffalo adds in a B-level prospect or pick? Or am I just reaching at nothing here lol.

either way I think we're stuck with him folks. If he can make it one more season out of handcuffs, he can still be effective for us this season, then we can let him go

Kane has 2 years left on his contract.

I doubt it. Sabres fans were literally the only people who believed Myers wasn't a mammoth disappointment at the time we traded him. According to everybody else, he was hot garbage who'd done nothing but get worse each season since his rookie year.

I won't call it a disaster (especially since that trade is the reason we have Jack Eichel right now), but I agree that Tim Murray could have gotten more for Myers on his own.

We did get Bogosian in the trade though. Everyone seems to be forgetting about him. I'd say he and Myers are pretty close in value.
And Jason Kasdorf (goalie who came over in the trade) looks real good too. He will be in the AHL this coming season. He looks like he could be a starting goalie or an NHL backup at worst.

This wasnt true and you know it. He was a skilled two way defender who had disappointed at points but then played very well at other times.

I never understood the need to SPIN trades already taken place in order to justify them under a new set of rules framed to make it seem better in hindsight.

It is what it is. Cant win every trade. Forget it.

That's an interesting spin on things. You may well have got Eichel regardless of that trade.

IF this is true, I would say this is probably ownership pulling the plug. I'm sure Mr Pegula was none to pleased to have the draft weekend marred by another story of him getting into trouble, even if there's little content to it. By all accounts I've heard, he's very popular in the room.

I'd say the price is probably a young top 6 forward coming back or the puck moving LHD.

If he is I'd move him out in a hurry. If other players are buying into who that guy is then you need to get rid of him even faster.

Well, we subtracted two decent resources in Stafford and Myers and only received one back in Bogosian.

Stafford's role was then filled by a guy such as Dalpe, or Varone. So yeah, it's a big difference.

Eh.... there's some legs to that statement. Prior to the trade, Buffalo was far from a shoe-in on finishing with the worst record in 2015. The goal was to have the worst record, which gave the Sabres a 20% shot at McDavid.... and if they didn't get McDavid, they got Eichel.

Myers was a stabilizing force on the back end and was playing pretty well at the time of the trade. So you trade out Myers and Stafford for Bogosian and Kane (plus the picks and prospects). Kane was hurt and out for the year at the time of the trade.

Regardless of how Myers is playing now, he played well at the time of the trade, and Bogosian wasn't an upgrade. And Kane never played a second.

The Sabres may eventually come out on the loser side of that trade, but it did cause them to nosedive into last place.

So does the Buffalo management hate him? guy is going run out of places, KHL soon. LA would be a nightmare, he gets in trouble in Winnipeg and Buffalo, imagine what he would do in LA

How can you progress when you're injured every year?

Great logic. 'The Kane trade was so bad -- we finished last and got Eichel -- therefore we won the trade.'
