Must say, a little disappointed that Trotz is already interviewing. So he’s probably not stepping away.
yeah, Barry doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would interview for no reason. looking at the current openings, i think dallas and vegas are the best fits for him in terms of more or less enough vets( not TOO much youth to suit him) and competitive roster

You might be right but I’d be shocked if he doesn’t go home to Winnipeg.

i thought that at first too man, but if he was that intent on doing that, i find it odd that it wasn't an immediate hire

in today's world, getting stranger by the day, i'm convinced more than ever that the more i THINK i know, the less i actually DO know

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he takes the year off. As far as the Jets are concerned, despite having the wealthiest family in Canada as part of ownership...they are pretty frugal with the way they spend and Barry has been rumored to be looking for 6 million a year.

I read that 6 mil figure too. Nice if he can get it!

Perif, here's your list of Top 10 in wins all-time, I'm sure you wouldn't want many of these either:

Scotty Bowman

Joel Quenneville

Barry Trotz

Ken Hitchcock

Al Arbour

Lindy Ruff

Paul Maurice

Alain Vigneault

Peter Laviolette

Mike Babcock

As great as BT is, he missed the playoffs 7 times in 14 years with Nashville, and NEVER got to the 3rd round there. In Washington he won a Cup and lost in the first round the other three years and we know what he did with us.

Let's not kid ourselves here . . . he's not a Bowman or an Arbour or even a Quenneville, who does have 3 Cups and only missed the playoffs TWICE in 24 years.
Amazing that 30% of that list coached for us.

yeah thats my guess too otherwise he's not going on an interview tour .

was he making 4 mil as isles HC or was it 5 ?

Watching the Oilers now under Jay Woodcroft from Dave Tippett, one wonders if Lane Lambert can have a similar effect on the Isles next season. Something about Woodcroft, he just keeps winning with the Oilers. Same roster that Tippett had, but the buy in from the Oilers is exponentially more with Woodcroft. That was what was dearly missing last season with the Isles. It will be interesting if Lambert can rediscover the buy in quotient with the Isles.

Evander Kane was a key addition for the Oilers. Lengthened their forwards.

It was originally reported at 5 years 25 million when he signed with us....but the latest is he has 1 year and 4 million left on his contract

Much as I don't like the guy, in addition to his talent, he also brought them an air of arrogance and toughness that they needed

👍--makeshift like!

In penalty box still---for trolling Kane's gambling issue on Edm board!

Hiller and Gruden gone. Lambert gets to choose his own staff.

The right move in my opinion, a head coach should be able to build a staff they’re confident with and trust working with. The guys behind the bench have to have similar thoughts on the game in order to be on the same page.

I was wondering recently if removing Trotz meant that other personnel would be relieved as well. These are two fairly considerable figures on that coaching staff.

Hiller was the power play guy and I think Gruden headed the defensive unit.

We'll likely find out about the next personnel changes in 10-14 days. News seems to be moving at that kind of pace in Islanderville at the moment.

Here's hoping the goaltending coaches won't need to be completely replaced.

I wouldn't be surprised if they went with Trotz to wherever he ends up next.

The only thing that worries me is Lambert finally has a head coaching job after all these years coaching which is well deserved but I hope he doesn’t look to just do favors for people that he met along the way.

No worries... This organization has never been about vitamin C.

Greco is still listed on the website. Korn and Lemaire for that matter.

Probably one of the reasons Trotz has not been selected/hired/or taken a spot as he have wanted to wait on what was going to happen with his staff. Also, Trotz is the only premium priced coach out there - he's going to command $4-5M per season - which is probably another reason he may be sitting out there. Vegas would pay that, but does WPG? PHI would too, but does BOS? DAL?

And if there's this new 'gotta play the kids' and 'uptempo' hockey, someone might hesitate to pay that. He'll get a gig no doubt, but where Trotz goes will tell you a LOT about the organizational direction of the team he goes to.

I don’t think it would be a bad idea for him to take some time off. He just wasn’t the same coach last year. Maybe it was Covid or the passing of his mom..whatever it was, he was noticeably worse then in previous years. Guys obviously felt it in the room. Maybe a year off will help him find his groove.

He's still around.
Yes. Lemaire is actually Lou’s body double. He walks out of the arena when a losing streak hits 3 games while Lou leaves from the players garage in an unmarked van.
