Fun fact: if he’d scored at 30 percent last season he’d have scored 94 goals.

People forget that while his s% is unsustainable his goal pace also is (74 goals pace). This is what you want to see. Even if you halve his s% he would still score 37 goals. It's Different than Paul Byron who scored 23 goals with an unsustainable s%. Since he had only 23 goals we knew once his s% would be back to normal that he would be back to 15 goals max.

I find Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Guhle and Slafkovsky exciting.. and there's the glimpses of things from Heineman, Kapanen that make things fun, too.

Said it before and I'll say it again, Caufield has the highest ceiling. He has superstar potential. He'll never be the complete player that others are, but the guy piles up goals and has a great offensive sense. He's not perfect but when you score the way he does, you don't have to be.

Still needs to prove it. Even if he has a great season this year, still needs to do it consistently. But I think he has the capability to be among the absolute best scorers in the league.

it's tough between Slaf and Caufield. I see Caufield as a guy who can consistently score close to 50 goals a year if healthy. Slaf will be a much more complete player and I think rack up some points. Those goals are so valuable though. I'd probably lean CC. If CC had been healthy, I think we'd have seen a couple of 45-50 goal years already.

Hutson is very interesting but his size and position knocks him down from the others. He could easily be the best of the group. A true unicorn in how he plays.

Suzuki is the most solid, reliable player on that list. Ultimately though, he doesn't have the upside that the others do. A complete, consistent player who is also extremely versatile but I don't see him being truly elite at anything. The others are somewhat unique in what they bring and Nick is probably the most easily replaced. That's not to say he isn't a great player or that he'd be easy to replace... but the others bring something that's really hard to find elsewhere. And while I find him consistently good, he's not consistently great. He's streaky and I'd like to see him level up more.

I'd probably draft it: Caufield, Slaf, Hutson and Suzuki.

Well Slaf and Demidov aren't winning anything without other top 6 forwards and a good D core + G , takes a village , something we haven't had in a long long time. Not to mention its gonna take another top 6 center. Caufield is fine we should be happy to have him. Maybe Demidov can play C

Yeah but 15% is definitely sustainable. There's around 60 players players who sustained a career 15% s% since 1993 (minimum 200 games). 20% is not though. 0 players sustained a career 20% s% since 1993 (minimum 200 games).

Caufield isn’t proven yet. But I think he establishes himself this year as a premier scorer. And yes, absolutely you win cups with those kinds of players. In fact it’s hard to win without those kinds of players.

It takes a mix of players. And judging by how things are going, we’re going to wind up with lines 1A and 1B.

At the end of the day, you need to score to win. Demidov isn’t even in the league yet and Caufield hasn’t been healthy enough over a season to show what he can do. But if Caufield is scoring at a 50 goal rate, that’s absolutely a guy who qualifies for the first line. If you have choices like Dmeidov and Slaf then it simply becomes a game of mixing and matching. They may put Slaf with Cc for size reasons for example but maybe they’re centered by Dach or Hage…

The nice part is that Hutson can play with ALL those guys and help the entire lineup.

Cc’s shooting percentage over that 48 in 82 stretch was 18 percent. If he’d had that last year he’d have had 57 goals.

No, he’s not going to be 30 percent this year or whatever but 50 goals is well within his reach regardless. He just has to stay healthy. A good shooter like him should be over 15 percent shooting.

He kept a 17.7 s% for 83 consecutive games. His shooting% will normalize, but I doubt it will be lower than 18-20% (which is also what he had when he finished with 8 goals in 9 games at the end of last season), which should give him at least 50 goals.

It seems to be working with him on PP 2. Gives us a threat for the other line. I don’t mind it.
