Exactly...he has to work a lot on his wrist shot. Hundreds shots a day during 4 months next Summer.

He has 0 goals so far..no wonder..in today's league with the great goaltenders..you have to have a good shot to score a bit

Quinn Hughes worked his ass of on his shot over the years and he scored 17 goals last season.
Anything from the point will have to be seeing eye but that goes for the majority of Dmen in the league.
The weakness becomes more apparent when he finds himself in space at the top of the slot.
There is a reason he takes the puck as tight to the net as he possibly can.

So how are people liking the Habs 5'9'' 160lbs goon?

7 hits in 8 games (like team average, but had two last games, he's ramping up the violence  ).
17 blocked shots.
6 PIM (good for the 3rd rank on the team).

:sarcasm:

Would love, to see him score his first goal tonight.

His shot is not that bad, he scored more goals in the NCAA than the Makar, Hughes and Fox of this world.

I agree, there's not a lot of options right now.

Personally, I would like to see Hutson-Guhle paring when Guhle is healthy again.

Hutson - Guhle
Matheson - Savard/ Struble
Wifi - Struble/ Savard

I would play the 1st and 2nd pairings fairly evenly. Still, not ideal for certain.
I feel that Savard í a bit too slow to shelter him properly. Ghule would be good but that would also possibly alter his game. I do find that it would likely be a better pairing then Savard though. Long term Reinbacher is the guy that should play with Hutson.

Was pretty close on his goal post. He will score a bunch for sure. When players start realizing he is a passing wizard it will open up lanes.

Habs has been very successful with the second round pick. Can't believe we turned Brett Kulak into Hutson! Thank you Edmonton for the second round pick!

Can't imagine how many points Hutson could have playing with McDavid.
Definitely as much as Evan Bouchard. But honestly once we get demidov, Laine, and get him in PP #1 he'll probably do that here. The kid is special. So glad he's a Hab. Man it feels nice to have some legit players for once. Bonafide superstars coming into our team. I know there's still some work to be done but holy hell Hughes has turned the future of this team around.

He had a very strong weekend. Man it would be cool if he could have a Quinn Hughes type of rookie season.

Hughes was given all the opportunities right away
Hutson 'can' get there but not with that nub Matheson currently in the way

Really?

Hutson averages the highest TOI on the Habs. His PPTOI/G is just a bit under Matheson's, but clearly, Hutson is already immensely relied upon for even strenght play. He's even getting PK time now, because of Guhle's injury.

Not that I care all that much for Matheson, just that it's somewhat of an exageration to say Matheson is in the way, except for getting PP1 instead of PP2.

As soon as PP1 hits a bad spell, they'll switch it up and Hutson will then likely remain there. Just a matter of time.

I was thinking that too, but I'm not so sure now. MSL basically said Matheson plays with the 1st line because they have known chemistry (on the PP and 5v5).

Something tells me you like Hutson. Just a hunch.

Guys...with what you know now ( just for the fun of it) ...you are building a team...who you choose first:

Suzuki
Slaf
Caufield
Hutson

I am curious.

I am curious.

#1 - Slafkovsky, for the ultimate package.
#2 - Hutson, potential to become Quinn Hughes//Adam Fox impact, for sure.
#3 - Suzuki, #1 two-way C, PPG guy. 30g 50a.
#4 - Caufield, elite goalscorer, but less complete game than Suzuki, but he have a very good passing ability, with great hands.

Talking about Hutson I've enjoyed watching him reel in his kamikaze rush attempts.
The only thing I've not liked in recent games is his unwillingness to head-man the puck.
There are players he should trust to give the puck to and he needs to pick up on that.
Otherwise he hasn't got caught too deep very often and the forwards are the ones missing the assignments.

I love his quickness and agility in the Dzone both he and Guhle are by far our best defenders at forcing the puck in space.

If he can bring that level of defensive game consistently and the team unlocks how it can play offense with Hutson on the ice? He could legit be a #1D in the vein of Fox/Hughes.
Demidov and Slaf will be the guys who will take care of matching Hutsons insane IQ :)

Hutson has had a few posts since the 2 games last year and the games this year. He couldve easily gotten 4 goals IMO. Give him time, Quinn Hughes also plays constantly with the Canucks 1st line which does a big difference in cycling the puck and creating shots openings, which hutson doesnt have often due to playing with scrubs
