Just so thankful the Habs picked this guy... If he has gone to another team before the Habs or the Habs had picked a talentless plug before him I would have been pretty bummed given how much I loved this player in his draft year.

I was so f***ing mad after the Mesar and Beck picks. I was 100% certain he'd get picked before our next pick at 62, so I didn't follow the second round. I was speechless when I saw the 62nd selection thread appear on the board. We were lucky so many GMs passed on him because of his size.

It is amusing that the little rascal came to the combine with his medical file with a note about his growth plates. Thank god he fell that far.

I don't believe he is going to be close to 60-70 points. At best, I would say around 40-45 for his rookie year. Most of the rookie production goes down after December.

Remember how Logan Cooley has red hot in his first 20 games in the NHL?
For every player that starts hot and finishing cold I can name one who status cold and finishes hot. Remember Juraj Slafkovsky? Generalities typically don’t apply to elite talent. He’s elite, he controls the game and generates something every shift. Tbh I was being conservative because I didn’t want to sound like a complete homer z. He will have 45 points by the all star break. Lolol

When the hell did Hutson hit 6 feet?
A quick hockeydb search lists:

Guhle - 6"3, 202 lbs
Hutson - 5"9 162 lbs

That's a difference of 6 inches and 40 lbs.
Your math issues are more severe than I first stated....you claimed That Guhle is 7 inches and 50 ponds larger than Hutson which is exactly 6'5" and 212 lbs. That is not even close to Guhle's size and your statement is accurate is nothing short of bizarre.

Guhle is 6'2" and Lane is 5'10" according to the latest measurements....do note use hockey db as they are notoriously inaccurate with their measurement listings, Elite Prospects has proven to be a much better source for measurements and stats. Hutson and Guhle are basically 4 inches apart.

Jesus bro, it was an exaggerated statement to basically say "Nobody is concerned about Guhle's size".. you got the point I was trying to make hopefully +/- a few inches and pounds.

Don't be concerned about my math, I'll be alright.

Yeah, I remember slaf scoring 50 points on his second season in the NHL. Finishing above 50+ on his NHL season for a defenseman is very hard. Brock Faber has a candidate for the calder with 47pts/82gp. Hutson coming close to Faber numbers in his first season is a huge win for us.

lol! 45pts by the all star break.....You expect him to also win the Norris and finish the season with 80+ points?

He wasn't exactly red hot, he put up 2 goals and 11 assists and finished with 20+24

As good a time as any to fetch my receipt. I rarely have any strong opinions on prospects but I did this one time.

Ha I am glad someone remembers it. I was WAY off on many aspects of that draft - I was upset about Slafkovsky, I didn't like the Dach trade... today those are 2 of my favorite current Habs. But I knew Hutson was special, and I am confident he will prove it.

WAFFLEDAVE GUARANTEE: Hutson gets 58 points as a rookie. Bookmark this post.

I didn't see it till the next day. I was camping during that draft and I was so upset they took Slaf and traded for Dach, and then didn't take Hutson at 26 I just tuned out completely and spent time with my family instead. I had given up completely. I couldn't believe when I saw we got him at 62. I was chatting up random people at the campground trying to find someone to talk to about it.

It’s been so long since we’ve had elite talent that people forget the impact these players have on their line mates. They make everyone else better, you can see Hutson creating plays out of nothing & always looking up ice. We haven’t had a D this dynamic in years, Markov was brilliant defensively and above average offensively with a high IQ. And we will never know great PK would have become with decent coaching because he was exceptional in spite of the fool behind the bench. Hutson is worth the price of admission now, IMHO he’s going to be a highlight reel for the next decade.
Cheers.

Hutson isn't a star in the making. He is truly a superstar in the making.

I never watch a D like that in my life. I don't just watch Habs even if I look like a biased Habs fan. But damm... this guy is just electric.

Yeah Makar and Hughes are very very special, but... Hutson is something guys.

We hardly ever notice :sarcasm:;)

I didn't say much back then but my friends know. There have been two prospects I have yelled and scream for the Habs to draft, PK Subban and Lane Hutson. No joke. I trully believe he will win the norris multiple times in his career because his advance stats will be increidible, let alone his points. People underestimate him, even now.

And I am more bullish than you, I say he breaks Chelios rookie scoring record for the Habs, 64 pts.
