Lane Hutson Burgeoning Star Watch

Signing long term for anything short of 12 million would be incredibly stupid from Hutson - that's still 16 million he'd be leaving on the table which is generational wealth that is too much to leave on the table.

9-10 million aav probably gets you a 4-5 year deal for him.

Hutson has 6 of those years which will be RFA. He has only one season played. He's not getting 12 mil.

We'll find out soon enough, but i doubt he gets more than 10.

I think he will take less than what he's worth. Doesn't seem like a greedy room at all and I think Hutson would follow suit

I think that's hopeful thinking, hopefully for the sake of the Habs he does but 16 million is a very significant amount of money + with the way cap is inflating, it'll probably be a bridge deal since the sky is the limit for him.

I just think 10 million with max term is so unrealistic when you got Chychrun signing for 9 million aav.

Chychrun is a very bad example as he was on the cusp of being a FA. Those RFA years count for something.

This thread has pivoted from.... Lane is a PP / 2nd assist merchant who sucks defensively and can't hack the rigors of the NHL due to his size... To....

Ha, now you have will have to pay him 12 million suckas!!! ;)

???

I've been behind Hutson winning the Calder since pre-season and him being a superstar for months now, to the point I've thought he's been the Habs best player - I'm just not delusional about how much money means to players the way some think. He probably gets the Quinn Hughes deal equivalent, which today works out to a 10m aav x 6 years.

Yes, but Hutson is also a much better player who's trajectory as a player is pointing sky high.

I know it's been said to death, but doing all this at his size is nuts. Built like a teenager let alone a pro athlete
All small players are not created equal. I think Hutson's size is precisely why he's able to do what he does.

I've heard too many times that he would have gone first overall if he were 6'2". Yeah, maybe, but it's doubtful we'll ever see a bigger guy that can play like him.

There are going to be a lot of people pushing Lane to get the biggest number possible. I just hope he's personally motivated more by the idea of building a dynasty than by cashing in. At least Hughes has a very good relationship with the agent. Might help.

No doubt. But it’s not even just about his height and weight. It’s how he’s as skinny as a bantam player. He’s not like MSL who has trunks for legs. That’s what’s so impressive to me

idk why they closed the Huston = Matthews thread but just so you proles understand, when Matthews scored 69 points that was 20th in the league. Huston is on pace for 53rd in the league. Scoring rises and falls throughout the years and this is a high scoring era. Also Hutson could never grow a Ron Jeremy stasche like Auston, this child will be rocking peach fuzz for the next decade

You're not sure why they closed the Huston thread then immediately came to post in the other Huston thread?

Expect anything different?

The first 20 games of the season of no Hutson on the powerplay probably cost the team 4 to 8 points in the standings, and cost Hutson at least the same amount of power play points.
