To me the most likely outcome is Dach and Newhook fall into that 2nd line on a bad team, 3rd line on a good team bucket so many players do. Guess I could be eating my words one day. I don't think I will be though.

Kupari is heading into his 24 year old season.
Vilardi will get top six minutes, but realistically he’s playing under Bowness.

It was always low ball offer or not get him at all or a chance of getting him for free so I'm not sure who you're saying was wrong , that's literally all we were offering who was wrong about what ? Nobody is crying over not getting dubois ESPECIALLY when we were offering dvorak a second or whatever garbage offer we had to spare for him.

I am not the one with no perspective bringing up the Canadiens every 5 mnutes and keeping this thread going. It is easy to follow HuGo's strategy. And it doesn't involve moving young players that are already scoring line forwards or young players recently developed.
And while I believe they should have gone for futures in a Dubois trade the futures would have to be decent value. Hughes was likely offering somewhat more than he gave in the Newhook trade.

The lowball offers stemmed from those idiots Hughes/Lebrun who thought Montreal was the only destination and set the expectations. Habs fans believed it hook, line and sinker. Habs fans, including yourself were so excited a simple picture of PLD being in the city HE LIVES in was evidence enough to rile up the fan base causing thousands of posts. But sure thing, no one really wanted him. Keep pretending there was no real interest. Those grapes seem pretty sour.

Low ball offers were on the basis that PLD wasn't a must-have for the Habs. They made a significant trade for Dach the season prior and Dach made good strides as a result. The price that LA paid for Dubois was well outside what the Habs were willing to pay, and for good reason.
Its not rocket science. People acting like PLD was a must-have acquisition for the Habs do not understand the Habs rebuild.
