Yea but PLD was pictured with Caufield at the F1 race and that meant he was guaranteed to "come home"

So why would they give up any assets for him ???????!!???!

Right, you’d figure that Dubois would simply go there for free next year. What the hell?

I agree.

I think it’s amusing that Dach was considered untouchable by Hab fans but meanwhile, we got a slightly better player PLUS three other assets.
Not that amusing if you know all the teams involved, and realize different teams have different needs, prospect pools, and timelines.

Dubois made little sense for MTL, the contract was never going to work, and for that reason, I wouldn't have moved Dach for him. The only way MTL was in on the deal is if it was a no brainer, and a bad deal for WPG, which was never going to happen, Chevy knew what Dubois was worth to the right team - which was never MTL no matter how much Habs fans thought that deal stood a chance.

Dont worry about it
Are people still obsessing over the Dubios/Montreal drama? If so, with his reputation, give it two years and he'll demand a trade out of LA. Then perhaps he will end up in Montreal.

I don’t disagree with you. A shame that Hab fans wasted all that time and energy this past year making ridiculous proposals that were rightfully shot down.

It's just that we had a really hard time understanding that nobody was going to give us anything of value for him, so they had to repeat themselves so we could get it through our heads. V kind of them, imo.

I've never understood the "proposals" around here tbh. And while we have some great Habs fans around, the least knowledgeable are the loudest, and most negative.... it is the same ten guys, and the reason I barely post on our own forum.

And that would still be irrelevant as he will be on a deeper team this season and likely next. As well as the fact that Suzuki has character and is a leader while Dubois' character is still in question.
I love the Habs fan salt.

But this speaks to my original point which is Suzuki won’t have to produce through all the excuses. There will always be something.

You make it seem like the Habs were barely interested. Funny how that idiot LeBrun‘s inside knowledge ran out when Hughes realized he didnt have the currency to get the trade done. Hughes wanted PLD bad And was hyping up the fan base for the good ole Quebec boy to come home but unfortunately he failed the fan base.

PLD scored 2.34 points/60 in 2019-20 compared to Suzuki's 2.17. From 2020-21 through 2022-23, PLD scored 2.42 points/60 compared to Suzuki's 2.28. (Split in seasons only because Natural Stat Trick allows 3-year periods for comparisons and I'm too lazy right now to calculate points/60 across those 4 seasons in total.) Seems like PLD produces more than Suzuki in the minutes he plays.

Don’t want to get into a silly argument, but Suzuki’s ice time is more heavily weighted to defensive situations than PLD’s.

Also people care about PPG not PPM when assessing production. Now if you really want to go that road, I’ll find you a really crappy player who tops them both in PPM. Drouin and Hoffman were shit and they were around 2.

I was responding to a simple statement that Suzuki has outproduced PLD since Suzuki came into the league. On a per-minute basis, that is plainly wrong.

Some Habs fans acted like ass during this saga but this must take the cake in the dumbest reading of the entire thing. My God.

They'll have another chance to get their hopes up in 2031.

That's a rotating spot...could be Byfield, Turcotte, Akil Thomas...that's the one spot I'm comfortable with in giving opportunity for the job to be stolen by a youngster. That and bottom pair LHD.
There's a bridge with a toll both to that spot.
Sitting in the toll booth is the ever so serious TMac peering out looking for a fee in trustworthiness.

I personally think they have close to the same value on the ice but different style of players. I would call them both well above average 2C's and bottom half 1C types. I value both of their games for different reasons.
Yes, probably skillwise, but pld being the person he is, i think his value goes down.

Where did LeBrun get his info from? It wasn't Brisson, Dreger got info from him. LeBrun didn't have any info about LA, safe to say he it wasn't from there or PLD if LeBrun didn't know anything about PLD changing his mind on where he wants to go.

The only time LeBrun had anything to say is when there were talks about PLD going to the Habs. All the media hyp of PLD to the Habs originated in Montreal. LeBrun is Hughes monkey.

This thread is a train wreck. Jesus H. Lot of hullabaloo about about whiny clown who’s never put up a ppg in the league and is fairly soft for a big kid. WPG cut off a tumour and got three top nine forwards back. Kupari will absolutely turn into a decent third line centre.

Good riddance to bad Frenchmen or should i say whiny Canadians?

PLD had no intention of signing in Montreal, so I don’t blame them for being annoyed with him.
