Just out of morbid curiosity from a Kings fan who is still confused with how quickly Vilardi was traded after such a long journey to productivity,

What makes you so certain that it won’t be going to arbitration? I admittedly have no sense of where the entire process even got to with LA, much less where it has gone with the Jets.

If a player goes to arbitration there is a very, very high chance they are gone in a few years. The Jets will not let it get to arbitration. Copp was very vocal about how awful it made him feel. You're basically telling a third party how shitty the player is to keep his salary down. It's a bad experience for everyone lol.

My main thing is the guy produces nothing for a long time and the org sticks with him through years and gives him a ton of chances. Then only he’s finally time to sign a new deal he semi does well. That’s a bad optic.

I lot of fans here think he’s going to be a star. I was just hoping he could be an everyday player. We should be asking will he finally be a NHL player. Instead we’re asking what he will want….feels like to me an awful lot like the Petersen deal again.

At the end of the day, losing Vilardi forever and being stuck with Dubois forever was just the cost of ridding themselves of Durzi forever. When I look at it that way, I feel better.

Dude Brah would probably be the best NHL name ever.
He'd probably be the most penalized player ever.

There is a thread for him because it looked like he was going to force his way to the Habs. Many of us weren't interested in him unless it was for futures or cheap. Already had 2 centres equal or better than him and now 3 with Newhook.
Dach and Newhook are not equal to or better than PLD. That’s just ridiculous. Keep dreaming. Stanley Cup contenders don’t give up on players that are that good when they’re trying to win. They give up players that are underwhelming and can’t cut it.

We'll see in 2-3 years. Newhook may not be a centre but he will likely be as valuable as Dubois. Suzuki and Dach will easily be as good as Dubois (injuries not withstanding)

I see you've already changed your tune from Newhook will be as good if not better than PLD to him "likely" being as valuable.

Could Suzuki & Dach be as good as PLD? Sure, but as of today they are not and out of the 3 PLD probably has the best chance of developing into a bonafide #1C.

The first 10 years of Suzuki's career are going to be excuses because of the team around him being to bad for him to succeed then last 5 will be excuses about if He was only younger.

But there will always be excuses why he isn't a 1C.

He's not near as good as PLD.

They’re totally in the same tier of players.

PLD is not a 1C either.

Yet Suzuki has outproduced PLD since he entered the league.

Vilardi is relatively unproven both health and production wise.

Dude Brah is much more established.
thats why we had to give up the other pieces.

Vilardi's development was meh up until last season and as soon as he showed some potential, bang, the Kings moved him for the best value he could get. I am curious to see what Dubois can do with the Kings and what Vilardi's prime years look like with the Jets.

I personally think they have close to the same value on the ice but different style of players. I would call them both well above average 2C's and bottom half 1C types. I value both of their games for different reasons.

They are both roughly what RyJo was for the Preds. Good enough to give you hope, but never good enough to actually be that 1C you need.
