As an Oilers fan, I don't get this for LA. The guys going away were such a pain to play against. I would not make that trade if I was LA
We have a lousy GM in a market with no media to hold him accountable and an ownership group who only cares about staying within loss limits.

The Kings press is literally a series of bloggers there for free lunches and the cred of being "insiders". That's it. Nobody ever asks "why".

Anyway, things are sure about to get easier for Edmonton in next years playoffs.

And many of us would say that if Dubois only wanted to play in MTL we'd give a lowball offer for him to get him now rather than next summer, but if it was going to be a bidding war, he could go elsewhere and that was cool too.
That's a very nice and polite way of putting it. That's not what was said for a majority of the conversations.

All that should have stopped when it was made clear that there were multiple teams involved and lowballs weren't gonna cut it

I can't believe the amount of folks saying that this is a bad trade for LA. They are loaded with center prospects but they don't have a for-sure Kopitar successor. Dubois, at his best, is exactly that.
Respectfully, Dubois can't carry Kopitar's jock. The defensive impact is nowhere close and he's never even approached 70 points. Couple that with the attitude issues and...yeah.

Vilardi is the key piece for Winnipeg.
- he does have concerning injury history
- rfa (hope he likes Winnipeg)

Iaffalo
-defensive forward who sacrificed offense to play a complete game. Redundant in LA for a team needing cap space.

Kupari
-very fast and can be physical
-makes a great and terrible play all in the same shift

*This move hopefully upgrades center depth while creating a better spot for Kaliyev and maybe Fagemo.

Vilardi has great hands and was a fan favorite after all he went through. Hate to lose him.

Makes no sense as his extension wouldn't actually count until July 1st, no ?
Good point. I feel like these guys make sh*t up or are fed BS just to see if they report it. Like Friedman saying that Matthews is unlikely to sign before July 1st - even though he can't sign until July 1st...lol

Well, guess I'm on the hate train if it's true then. "I want to play for my hometown" was just a way to boost his value otherwise the return would've been much lower and come with a 1 year deal to UFA. Smell ya later Pierre-Luc, please kindly f*** off.

Is Vilardi that good? Feels like there isn't much value going to Jets.

PLD is a beast. I have no problem with the Habs not ponying up assets and big cap to get him, and his constant discontent seems (potentially) prima donna-like, but he is a serious beast on the ice.

Kopitar turns 36 next month. Dubois is 25. Like, a transition would have to happen soonish.

Dude, if's healthy he's great. Elite-level hands and finishing abilities and is a load in general in the offensive end with his size and vision. His metrics on penalties drawn were also top level. His best years are in front of him too, again if his back holds up. I would hate to lose him in this deal and I think that's the mainstream opinion among Kings fans.
