lmao @ all of the habs fans going "well we can just take him for free instead of doing a trade" and then he goes to LA

It's really starting to get boring endlessly correcting this nonsense only to see it pop up again.

What you are "joking" about here is an entirely manufactured narrative.

If you go tot he Montreal forum, you will see, by an overwhelming majority, that Canadiens fans *did not want to trade for Dubois.*

You will also see, repeated ad nauseam, that if Dubois *really wants to be a Montreal Canadien* then the team could circle back if and when he became a free agent, and if he didn't hit free agency, so be it, losing out on a 65 point forward with a checkered track record isn't exactly an issue.

You seem desperate to create a false narrative where HFBoards Canadiens, as a collective, were smug and self assured they were getting him for free and now they have egg on their face and you don't seem to know, or even care, that what you're saying is totally manufactured and false.

I'm thinking it's Gawanke along with Harkins (who was previously mentioned by Murat) going the other away. They also said a late pick so maybe NYR 5th rounder?

Wow Jets hit the jackpot. Giving up on Vallardi so soon is going to backfire on LA. This kid is the real deal.
Its insanity.

Blake loves his diet "stars", Fiala now Dubois. Its the Dave Taylor days all over again, add the biggest name players who are willing to come to LA, then fit a plan around them.

Blake never wanted to rebuild, he insisted from the start that Kopitar and Doughty were players you could contend with despite the fact that they have only ever been out of the first round during that brief 3 year period with a stacked roster of known killers and a cruel taskmaster behind the bench. Players in their mid 30s who have only eon 6 playoff GAMES in 9 years are somehow still contenders? Addicted to hopium.

Blake and Robitaille remember the soft, easy LA where vets come in for the beach lifestyle and nobody - NOBODY - demands success. Dubois will fit right in.

Meanwhile, Iafallo was the only winger on the roster that could win board battles and kill penalties. Vilardi just broke out, an 80 point season would not be a shock. These are the last two wingers they should be moving.

LA has addressed none of their weaknesses here, just added to them. Sure Dubois and Fiala may hit big numbers together, but the team still can't hold leads, still can't kill penalties, still loses 90% of its board work and still can't prevent anyone from playing tic tac toe in their slot.

Winnipeg wants NHL pieces, but why?
They're about to lose Hellebuyck and Scheifele too
They should go with prospects and picks instead
They still have Connor, Ehlers, Morrissey, Lowry as core pieces, some interesting young roster pieces in Barron, Samberg, Gustafsson, Perfettii, with Heinola and Chisholm banging at the door on D, plus prospects in Lambert, Lucius, McGroarty, Rashevsky, Salomansson to go along with Valardi, Kupari and Iafallo, plus whatever we return in Scheif and Helly trades, our 18th as well as some solid top 4 D in Pionk, Demelo and Dillion, and to a lesser extent in Schmidt that we can use as trade pieces if need be, plus have a ton of cap space to play with to make additions and sign a decent goalie tandum, and/or take a player for free from a cap strapped team Instantly become younger, turn the core over, new player leadership, retool on the fly.
This would be a great start to the Jets offseason.

Like I said in the other thread:

Jets still have Josh Morrissey (one of the top d-men last year) and elite forwards in Ehlers and Kyle Connor and a lot of good complementary pieces.

Yep, they certainly could have gone for a rebuild but are just turning over their aging core for new blood and a new culture.

Jets will not be as good but they do have some solid prospects that will soon be knocking on the door.

Yeah no....I gotta chime in on this one.

It may have only been for a few weeks but the level of smug, self righteous "Well we'll just get him for free next summer LOLZ" was enough to leave an impression.

Really depends on the PLD contract but I don't really love this for the Kings.

On the other hand, the Jets better be sure Vilardi is interested in playing in Winnipeg long term or this deal could be just as bad for the Jets.

Without Wheeler, and maybe with some surprises out of training camp, Winnipeg can easily end up being a better team than last year. Helle still a wildcard, but perhaps a good year and new culture change things.
