This wasn't an overpay. They got a low end 1st line player for basically Villardi and a 2nd. I doubt Villardi is ever as good as Dubois alone. I don't know much about Kupari but he has underwhelming numbers for a former top 10 pick. Really is the 2nd round pick that might be an X factor in this stacked draft year. Also the Kings have Dubois signed for 8 years through his prime. The fact that Winnipeg didn't get a 1st round pick or blue chip prospect for this deal is pretty wild.
Just going to pretend Iaffalo wasn't part of the trade?

looking at capfriendly it seems LA is in cap hell, 11 forwards, 4 d and 1 goalie signed with 5 mil in cap space left? Am I missing something…

He's not a bad role player but he still doesn't really sweeten this deal much. Winnipeg got a bunch of maybes and Iafallo for Dubois. It could of been a better deal unless Dubois handcuffed them that badly.

Sheesh. I would've taken PLD next year as UFA but if the Kings want him that badly then by all means, that's a hefty price to pay.

Kupari is crap. So it's Vilardi, Iafallo and a draft pick. Any one of the Habs top 5 beats that but they aren't available. I would say Anderson, Dvorak and the Jets 1st/Habs 2nd would be a similar offer. If Vilardi can remain injury free (a big if) the LA offer is better.

It's around what he should get. Either Dubois screwed up or he knew he wasn't getting 8.5 from Montreal so he didn't try to force his way there.
OK, good joke, but seriously. What do the Habs have to beat that offer

Holy shit this is bad for the Kings. PLD is not the type of player you invest this much into.
Is this a Leafs fan chiming in about what it takes to win in the playoffs? LMAO, like a Leafs fan Knows what that looks like. You better hope you get this return for Matthews Instead of a 15m/year boat anchor.

Anderson would not waive. Just because habs paid a first and a second for Dvorak does not mean he has any value. So atm we have nothing from Habs. So I say, Habs has failed twice getting PLD, instead they got Dach that is even more overhyped than Vilardi and Newhook...

As a Jets fan, I can say that Kings fans will love PLD for the 30 or so games each season he decides to play hard or isn’t injured or in the penalty box. However, he may have finally found a place he’s happy and decides to put it altogether to play consistently.

Salty Habs troll you are is salty! Don’t get pissy and project your feelings just because people are poking fun at you when that’s all you’ve been doing to Jets fans on this whole PLD drama for the better part of 2 years now, on several threads. I even foretold that he wouldn’t even end up in Habs land and all you and the other Habs trolls tried to do is dunk on me. Now the tables have tabled on yall

If you can’t take it don’t dish it lol :thumbu:

The table turned when Dubois opened up to 5 or 6 teams. You're late to the salt party bud.

I can take it. You want us to crumble but we were mostly consistent with what Habs fans said all along. We were trying to use the potential leverage that he wanted to play for the Habs and it's a business. You would have done the same (I said this many times before). Things changed once he opened up to 5 or 6 teams and there was a report on that where he didn't want to really screw over the Jets by only wanting to play for the Habs. That's respectful to the Jets and I respect it even as a Habs fan.

So yeah, same thing as before. We were interested but not desperate. You and a bunch of others are just out for blood because we tried to use Dubois/Habs leverage. Like I said, it's business. No hard feelings. Hope you do well with what you got.

Could be a win-win for both teams if PLD develops more consistency and Vilardi continues in an upward trajectory. The best news for me, as a Jets fan, is I won’t have to read about garbage offers coming from Habs fans. At least the drama is over.

This guy was spewing nonsense proposals for over a year and couching it that Montreal had “leverage”. His major logic flaw was that he would pitch things below what the Jets would get in a rental deal. It was completely absurd.

He was hopelessly wrong.
