LOL...............what a stupid post.
Habs have more fans outside of Quebec than inside Quebec.

As for your question, habs were never going to give up 3 players, plus a second for Dubois.
Jets win their deal big time.

Habs will be happy with Newhook.
Thx
Wtf? How is that possible? There are more people in Manitoba and Alberta that cheer for MTL than people in Quebec?

Dubois will easily get 70 + mpre points while Newhook will finish on a 3rd line with 35 points and no physical impact.
And the 31th and 37th picks this season won't even make the NHL so what's your point?

Next move has to be Byfield+ for Saros or another top goalie, right?

Arvidsson should be moved as well.

Frankly, if it wasn't for him getting injured last season he'd have been in line for $9.5 million a season rather than $8.5. This will turn out to be a very solid contract. Rememeber this is for PLD at age 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32. That's baiscaly his prime years and based on what he did as a 23 and 24 year old he'll be a point per game player over much of that time.

I appreciate your optimism but you’re hugely downplaying the risk.

It’s a very big contract. For a talented, yet inconsistent player, be it because of injury, attitude etc. Who has produced a maximum of 63 points.

I understand he’s in what should be his “prime years” but that’s all speculation. Unless something truly spectacular happens, he’s going to be leaned on heavily on what is not the greatest roster. Are you telling me that this guy has shown enough to be considered a stable producer in that position?

I would hate the contract if it were my team giving it. I honestly don’t know enough about the assets going the other way to give what amounts to an educated opinion there.

Tkachuk had much higher production and was being swapped for a “star” veteran.

Situations are pretty different.
Not really. Both are rife with people who have no idea how to evaluate players making wild assertions about players they never watch. Anyone who had actually watched him play could have told you Huberdeau was a product of his situation and wouldn't thrive anywhere else. Likewise anyone who's actually paid attention to PLD knows that people claiming "he's a 60 point player" don't know what they are talking about.

PLD is a fitness-freak. It is motivation playing for Jets and Blue Jackets that was the problem

His motivation was the problem, you’re right. When it’s two different teams, he’s the common denominator. Nobody on the planet would be surprised if it happened again. That has nothing to do with the Jackets or Jets. All PLD.

Offensive power only. I can't revile here, but when you look at those numbers, they are relative to each other, so you'll get the picture. PLD knew how to sell himself from day 1.
Those numbers look pretty bad which is why I'd have to assume you wont reveal how you calculate it.

Dubois scored 27 goals, 63 points in 73 games
Vilardi scored 23 goals, 41 points in 63 games
Kupari scored 3 goals, 15 points in 66 games

How is the gap between Vilardi and Dubois bigger than the gap between Dubois and Kupari?
If I had to guess, I imagine you're probably looking at something like PP60 which is extremely flawed thinking that a player can replicate their productions at lower minute to higher minutes at the same efficiency.

that deal is overpay though, JT miller has a similar contract and similar attitude problems, yet canuck fans complain about his cap hit non stop. the difference? JT miller is a 100 center. I guess age is everything.

No, Blake always over pays.

This is the guy that thought it was better to acquire Phaneuf than put Gaborik on LTIR. He bought him out the next summer.

This is the guy that had to promise Kovalchuk a 3rd year to sign here. He was then kicked off the team within 2 months and bought out.

This is the guy that celebrated having the top prospect pool in the league. He then dismantled it within 2 years. Drafted 6 consecutive centers in the first round, none of which are centers in the NHL.

This is the guy that brought in vet after vet to push those prospects down and into other positions while reducing their trade value, ruining morale in Ontario and suppressing his own asset list.

He traded his 1st round pick in tomorrow's draft for two UFAs he couldn't afford to sign, so he ends up somehow RETAINING $2 million for Provorov in a deal to sign Gavrikov - who only wanted a 2 year deal.

This is the guy who has never won a playoff series as GM. The team itself has only won 6 playoff games in 9 years.

Copley saves their season past year, then is told that he isn't the starter for the playoffs - and now he is somehow the only NHL goalie on the roster and apparently good enough to be the starter again.

His team can't win a board battle to save their lives, gets bullied on the regular, can't kill penalties and can't hold leads. Now they are capped out and can't address any of those holes.

This is the softest team in the league, and easy first round fodder next year.

Eventually folks outside of LA who only look at the skilled players on the roster will learn that Rob Blake is the worst GM in the league.

Dumb Gm's set the going rate just as much as smart ones.

Lewis had a hockey brain. Don’t see it in Kupari. People shit on Byfield for not having it all together at the age of 20.

Kupari is already 23. He is only two years younger than Dubois. Like I said, in the other threads, I would’ve much rather traded Lizotte, then Kupari, but I’m not gonna lose any sleep over trading Kupari.

And how consistent was his playing time or his role or his development..
the kid has talent out the ass but is a winger, play him enough and let him make mistakes and he’s going to shine.. Shit, you’ll see that this upcoming season and I’ll be sure to revisit this conversation

We got all that for a guy who Montreal fans wanted to get for free or by offer sheeting, so that’s a win. Our hopes were not high, and this return is easily double what I thought would happen.
Happy Chevy found a way to get Kupari instead of accepting Anderson-Dolan.
