Basically has elite shot suppression metrics which makes him an ideal middle six complimentary piece that has some skill to finish

Big concern is injury history, otherwise he looks like a good piece for both regular season and playoffs with his style?
lol some skill.....he probably had the best hands around the net on the Kings.

I’m curious if the LA lifestyle will effect PLDs already low work ethic. This trade all depends on how Villardi and Dubois play for their new teams. Iafollo is a dime a dozen bitten sicker but Kuoari has some potential.

No it wouldn't that's absolute nonsense. To get Helle with 1 year left you're looking at a bare minimum of a 1st and a decent prospect / young player.

If Blake was offering that much, he may as well have just shot for the stars and included picks to get Hellyebuck too. Even if they only get him for one year and can't resign him, go all in and make a serious run for the cup next year while they still have Kopitar and Doughty.

PLD is a fitness-freak. It is motivation playing for Jets and Blue Jackets that was the problem

He wasn't far off and he's still young and capable of improving. Fiala seems like a great complement to PLD's skillset too.

Only legit gripe Kings fans should have is that this takes them out of the running for Matthews, Draisaitl and McDavid but who knows if any of them even make it to UFA. Otherwise turning three dime a dozen players into a 25 year old 1C locked up for the rest of his prime at a reasonable cap hit is a tidy bit of business.
Is Fiala that much better offensively than a guy like Connor?

Who are you f***en kidding??? He’s faster, bigger, stronger, has a harder shot and unlike Kempe has been put in a shitty situation by Todd.. he absolutely has Kempe upside at absolute worse he’s another Trevor Lewis with 10x more physicality
Lewis had a hockey brain. Don’t see it in Kupari. People shit on Byfield for not having it all together at the age of 20.

Kupari is already 23. He is only two years younger than Dubois. Like I said, in the other threads, I would’ve much rather traded Lizotte, then Kupari, but I’m not gonna lose any sleep over trading Kupari.

I’m so tired of all these attitude posts. Kings have dealt with Richards, Carter, Kovalchuk, L. Andersen, and Lemieux’s attitudes just fine.

Contracts and everything else aside.

As an Oiler fan, I ask: is LA improved on the ice with this trade, or not? I think not.

This makes LA a scary team to face next season. It gives them 3 outstanding lines and with some of the youth coming in their D should be among the best in the west as well. If they get any kind of goaltending they will compete for first in the conference.

We got all that for a guy who Montreal fans wanted to get for free or by offer sheeting, so that’s a win. Our hopes were not high, and this return is easily double what I thought would happen.

again, im not defending this trade, it's a terrible trade from LA's perspective

but are you suggesting that Montreal fans dictate the market?

because what you are saying is, habs fans were threatening us with plucking PLD away for free, and we Jets fans were scared, because habs fans can absolutely do this, therefore thank you Los Angeles for saving us from ourselves?

bizarre take

Kings easily win this deal.

Iafollo is a cap dump
Kupari is a 4th liner even on the Jets today. Not good seeing how he is going into his D+5. Maybe could fetch a 3rd
2nd in 2024 is likely 50+

So the Jets got Vilardi + late 2nd + 3rd line winger worth nothing atm, young 4th liner worth mayeb a 3rd.

8 x 8.5M is a very good contract moving forward. Kadri being a career 50-60 point C besides his 1 year playing on a stacked team got 7M x 7 years. Horvat got 8 years x 8.5M. Bertuzzi is looking for 7M+. 8.5M will be 60 point forward money next offseason. In the next UFA class, guys like Reinhart, Stephenson, Lindholm, Eberle, Marchessault, Arvidsson all are likely looking at 8M+ if they hit UFA

Try to keep the info below private :)
Iafallo alone is better than PLD, Vilardi is tons better.
Look at the G column, that's ranking of forwards in NHL for 2023.
You be the judge.

Dubois' attitude is fine. He's become the scapegoat but there's been a mass exodus from Winnipeg including their former coach and captain and Columbus was a long time ago and it's Columbus.

He's chosen his destination, I think he's going to be more excited to play there than he has anywhere he's played.
