Iafalllo could definitely net a 2nd and Kupari just turned 23. Even if Vilardi is ok. Its like him and the equivalent of 2 2nds and a 3rd for PLD who wasn't going to be there in a mont.

For sure, but with quantity you have to hit on at least half of the pieces for it to feel like a win IMO.
Would have shot for a 1st (even 2024) over 2nd + Kupari if possible.
Time will tell but not sure WPG has been drafting and developing big time guys with their recent picks.

LA gets best piece but saddled him with a very expensive deal that has high expectations (I think he can become a 30+, 80pt guy for most of that deal).

I guess I'm one of the few who get this for LA. Iafallo is a 3rd line W about to hit 30 yo. Kupari is an ok prospect who is a fringe NHL'er at this point entering his D + 6 year. Vilardi had a great start to last year, then tailed off, ending up with 41 pts, a career high by a long shot. Oh, and he doesn't play C. He's a year younger than the "disappointing" PLD, who had 63 pts, and plays C. Their career numbers are radically different, favoring PLD.

A mid late 2nd is nice, but, cmon.

LA sold high on Vilardi, and threw in some bits and pieces, thereby acquiring and locking down a young'ish #2C for the prime in his career. I think 8.5M is a bit rich, but that's the way long term contracts go. In 5 years from now it will seem reasonable.

Yeah I think people are overreacting a little bit. Those are pieces of decent quality, but it's still more of a quantity trade. I like Vilardi, and Iafallo is serviceable, but LA is getting a young top six center without having to move some of their more important pieces.

Credit to Winnipeg for making the best of a bad situation, but I can see the logic for LA. This is one of those trades folks could easily look back on differently with the benefit of hindsight.

For the 4th time, he was born and raised in Buffalo. Nobody is saying Buffalo is a paradise.
Calm down. I hadn't read any of those replies yet. It's hard to keep up with this thread. You go to reply to one post and a dozen or two more appear by the time that you hit the "Post reply" button. Also, as soon as I read those replies, I edited my post.

Vilardi is a better risk than that 1rst.

Dubois will be good for the kings and it will end up a low first. Kings got the best player but they also gave a lot to do it.

How are we salty about it lmao, we got a good return in a situation where we had almost no leverage and we don’t have to deal with your terrible trade proposals anymore :thumbu:

Win-win for everyone except Habs fans, who wasted their own time as well as everyone’s sanity for the better part of 2 years, trying to be trolls. Cheers!
We said we would never pay he market value. Seems you found a team that had pieces that you liked. Win for us as it seems the management was never really that high on him and proved they were not willing to give up valuable assets like Dach.

Dubois > than that package . Jets did what they could do under the circumstances.
I;d keep Dach over that package too.

So uh, Byfield to 4C or 3rd line wing? Feels like they'd be wasting his potential in either of those roles.

It's going to be fun to look back on this thread when Dubois scores 80 points next season while Vilardi's 19% shooting regresses hard and Kupari is playing for the Moose.

Jets came out very well here. On a move you were forced to make. Kings paid a kings ransom.

It may work out for them but that is a lot of prime young assets to give up and a lot of money to commit too.

Lol habs fans still trying to take shots at former players.

danault got paid and gets to live in LA, there’s no chance he regrets leaving Montreal.

Nice try though!

I didn't say he regrets it. I said a reason he gave for leaving was he didn't want to be a 3C.

Touchy about Habs fans aren't you. Habs fan piss in your corn flakes or something.

Or, you just can't read?
