Committing 8 years to a mediocre center that they will inevitably buy out.Why is the Kings board melting down over this
It's not massive. It's the cost of a top six center at his age.
Cozens just got 7+ after one good season.
Yeah but that season was more productive than anything Dubois has done to date and hes younger. It's not massive. It's the cost of a top six center at his age.

Kings president and PLD had/have same agent? just a guessI just really want to hear the FO discussions leading up to this trade.
How exactly does anyone rationalize doing this? This feels like nothing more than a “he’s our guy and we will pay any price to get him” move. That’s not managing.
Yeah, he left Montreal because he didn't want to be a 3C. Lmao.
Oh well ...
Good trade by Jets.
Not even close. I love Kupari but he doesn’t have the toolbox. Kempe has much better hands, and much better hockey sense.f*** your talking guy, Kupari has Kempe vibes written all over.. given more TOI he’s going to be excellent for the Jets
This a job for Lard Asscan someone post that Team America vomit gif?
it's time
Kopitar will be 3C in a year or two.
You think Montreal's 2nd is going to be mid to late?I guess I'm one of the few who get this for LA. Iafallo is a 3rd line W about to hit 30 yo. Kupari is an ok prospect who is a fringe NHL'er at this point entering his D + 6 year. Vilardi had a great start to last year, then tailed off, ending up with 41 pts, a career high by a long shot. Oh, and he doesn't play C. He's a year younger than the "disappointing" PLD, who had 63 pts, and plays C. Their career numbers are radically different, favoring PLD.
A mid late 2nd is nice, but, cmon.
LA sold high on Vilardi, and threw in some bits and pieces, thereby acquiring and locking down a young'ish #2C for the prime in his career. I think 8.5M is a bit rich, but that's the way long term contracts go. In 5 years from now it will seem reasonable.
Salty Habs troll you are is salty! Don’t get pissy and project your feelings just because people are poking fun at you when that’s all you’ve been doing to Jets fans on this whole PLD drama for the better part of 2 years now, on several threads. I even foretold that he wouldn’t even end up in Habs land and all you and the other Habs trolls tried to do is dunk on me. Now the tables have tabled on yallWin-Win for everyone except Habs fans is being salty. You're spinning things with belittle narratives. Character is showing
Yes but they have no money. Something like $5M for 7 roster spots.Kings are obviously not done, they still need to sign a goalie and need defensemen right?
Who are you f***en kidding??? He’s faster, bigger, stronger, has a harder shot and unlike Kempe has been put in a shitty situation by Todd.. he absolutely has Kempe upside at absolute worse he’s another Trevor Lewis with 10x more physicalityNot even close. I love Kupari but he doesn’t have the toolbox. Kempe has much better hands, and much better hockey sense.
I love Kupari, and think he could be a very dominant bottom six player if given the right rule, minutes, and if he continues to evolve. Big body guy with good speed, he will be missed. But in nonway do I see Kempe in him. Even in his draft year, the experts did not see the offensive potential in him.
Bottim six torpedo with some decent hands.
We've been saying this since 2019.Kopitar will be 3C in a year or two.
Not so much.He made some bad trades as his twice stanley cup-winning team aged out and he tried to keep them competitive. Like most winning GMs have done at some point.
Anyone who judges him by his last trades out the door after a long, successful career is out to lunch.
The other 3 pieces aren't really promising. Could maybe flip Iafallo for a 2nd/3rd if he produces more than 40+ pts, retaining on his final year.
Kupari hasn't impressed and a late 2nd round is a lottery ticket for now.
