guess Blake and al. were really scared of Quebec finally seperating after finding pride and joy cheering for their own local boy.. crazy trade.

I know Winnipeg doesn’t want to go on futures but could be of interest.

He feels bad for Iafallo leaving the California sunshine to go to Winnipeg, but then suggests that he be flipped to Buffalo?

Edit: Others have pointed out that he's from Buffalo, so that makes more sense.

Danault is more of a 3C and the Kings don't have a 3C or a good 4C. So Dubois pushes Danault to a more suitable line.

I feel like there was a much safer way to go about this as opposed to going after PLD who has given up on two teams already at 25.

I mean yes their center depth got better but at a massive cost. Now they pretty much have to move Arvidsson as well.

I mean i guess the prospect pool is deep enough to handle it.

I just would've probably went after a much safer gamble than PLD.

The return is more than I expected but I do think Dubois will pay off richly for the Kings in the playoffs. Kings look scary good now.

I guess I'm one of the few who get this for LA. Iafallo is a 3rd line W about to hit 30 yo. Kupari is an ok prospect who is a fringe NHL'er at this point entering his D + 6 year. Vilardi had a great start to last year, then tailed off, ending up with 41 pts, a career high by a long shot. Oh, and he doesn't play C. He's a year younger than the "disappointing" PLD, who had 63 pts, and plays C. Their career numbers are radically different, favoring PLD.

A mid late 2nd is nice, but, cmon.

LA sold high on Vilardi, and threw in some bits and pieces, thereby acquiring and locking down a young'ish #2C for the prime in his career. I think 8.5M is a bit rich, but that's the way long term contracts go. In 5 years from now it will seem reasonable.

For the 4th time, he was born and raised in Buffalo. Nobody is saying Buffalo is a paradise.

So essentially Vilardi Durzi Kupari and Iafallo for just PLD? Steep.

Only if you have no idea about the players involved. LA wins this trade easily because PLD if FAR better than any of the assets comming back, it's not even close. I'm not sure if it's people who have spent the last year listing to all the reasons Habs fans have been giving for they should get PLD for free or what, but IMO there are a lot of people in their thread who have demonstrated they have zero ability to evaluate hockey talent.

Lol how in the world did WPG lose. The guy wasn't going to sign and they got a haul

Everything rests on Vilardi here.

The other 3 pieces aren't really promising. Could maybe flip Iafallo for a 2nd/3rd if he produces more than 40+ pts, retaining on his final year.

Kupari hasn't impressed and a late 2nd round is a lottery ticket for now.

Way to early to say

If LA gets another cup w kopitar and Vilardi takes a step forward and stays injury free it’s pretty win-win for both sides

No one should have to “lose”

Right now of course WPG lost, Vilardi is the main counter balance here.
The 3 other pieces are filler IMO

LA paid a lot for some extra PLD potential, they could have overpaid by a fair bit if he isn't hitting 30+ and 80pts.
