As non fan, you are not aware of his last trades just to held his job.
He made some bad trades as his twice stanley cup-winning team aged out and he tried to keep them competitive. Like most winning GMs have done at some point.

Anyone who judges him by his last trades out the door after a long, successful career is out to lunch.

I'd take 3 players like Iafallo, Vilardi and Iafallo over Dubois any day.
Now LA has a few holes in their forward group to fill and still need a goalie.

Of course LA could turn around and win the Cup in the next few years and Blake will look like Masai in Toronto who swung for the fences and brought home an NBA championship.

But right now, today, this looks absolutely brutal for the Kings.

Why in the world would LA do this while having a pretty solid stable of centers already and serious cap constraints incoming?
Danault is more of a 3C and the Kings don't have a 3C or a good 4C. So Dubois pushes Danault to a more suitable line.

I just really want to hear the FO discussions leading up to this trade.

How exactly does anyone rationalize doing this? This feels like nothing more than a “he’s our guy and we will pay any price to get him” move. That’s not managing.
