Nah, that's a wrong take; Vilardi no matter how talented, he's 1 solid hit away from ending his career, this is pure fact

Second, if you watched the playoffs this year, Eichel is far from maturing lol

A diva is a diva, it's rare we get a player that stops putting makeup and takes selfies for his insta into some kind of a mature stud (see Adrian Kempe as one of the very few examples)

cry babies are cry babies, it's a DNA thing

Dubois cries and will always cry, just like Eichel, if there's a water shortage, we can rely on their tears

the ISSUE AT HAND is Blake being such a corporate buffoon loyal to himself first and foremost, that he feels he's solidifying his future by having a few centers locked in, no matter how average the center is at center-stuff (see Dubois)

at the end of the day, he's shipping 3 roster players out: Vilardi, Iafallo, and Kupari

and filling them (for the relative same amount of $) with: PLD, Harkins, and JAD/Turcotte

does that make LA a better team?

I say no

it's a lateral move to me
Lol what the f*** are you on about? Eichel was consistently our best competitor even in the few losses where the rest of the team checked out effort wise. After getting blown up by a big Tkachuk hit he was quick to admit it was a clean hit and partially his fault for toe picking and jumping towards Tkachuk instead of "crying". Despite leading the playoffs in scoring, instead of pouting and "crying" about not winning the Conn Smythe, he immediately went to Marchessault to embrace him and told Marchy it was the "best thing I've ever seen." After winning the cup he didn't make it about him and he credited his teammates for giving him the joy of coming to the rink back.

Past all that the closest thing I saw to "crying" was mounting frustration at failures to convert on good chances during his goal scoring drought, but that's not really diva behavior.

So idk man, maybe I got the rose colored glasses on and I'm missing something. Do you have specific examples from the 2023 run? Cause I'll gladly admit that Jack threw a very public tantrum after the first time Sabres fans booed him, but since then it seems he's had perspective shifts and seems, by all accounts from other VGK players, to be a great teammate.

I'm not saying Dubois can't grow up. I'm just wondering where the confidence comes from that he will to justify throwing assets like this to get him and offering an 8 year term to keep him.

It doesn't really matter - that's the past. Who's the better player NOW? If they are both playing the same number of games last year Vilardi is outscoring PLD.
Dubois is a way better player and outscored him what are you talking about.

??? PLD = .86 ppg and GV = .65 ppg

Love Vilardi and hate to see him go, but....

Vilardi was expected to get between 3-3.5 on a bridge deal. So, those two are close to paying for PLD, but not quite there. Maybe that Vilardi contract is why he is on his way out. Kings have little to no money and will need to make more trades.

Vilardi was expected to come in around $5 million AAV.

Yeah, I think that was a typo, Should have read 3.5 mil. My bad.....

Vilardi was on pace for over 30 goals last year. 1 year younger. Had a massive step forward. I'm of the opinion you've seen more of PLD's ceiling and less of Vilardi's.
Ive watched both players thanks. I have seen Dubois raise his game in the playoffs and brings a physical element very few players can and are capable of.

Dubois had 27 goals 36 assists, 63 points in 73 games.
Vilardi had 23 goals 18 assists for 41 points in 63 games

In what world is Vilardi scoring more. Being healthy is also a skill and is important. I have no dog in this fight I am a sens fan I cant for the life of me understand how someone doesnt like this as a kings fan.

I don't care for this trade but let's be real, bottom 6 centers were atrocious last year and caused TM to roll only 3 lines at the first hint of adversity in any game, especially the playoffs. This makes Danault the 3C and Lizzo the 4C which is a legitimate improvement. Goal is still a huge problem, as well as team D, as well as physicality, no argument there
Trading Lizotte for Nic Dowd would be an improvement at center while retaining strength at wing and allowing more cap for a goalie, a tough defenseman, and possibly Hathaway. Making a trade that makes Kopi kill more penalties is not smart.

Jets have 12M in space plus can go over by another 10% of cap in offseason so that's another 8M. These guys need to look at jets cap situation before speculating View attachment 722076
that is true but typically teams do not want to go into the cushion threshold. Teams get a lot less palatable in trades when you they know you have to make a move to cut salary. I dont think Vilardi will sign a huge money deal but anything over 6 and the Jets starting getting tight with cap space.

So you're hoping that 1st and 2nd turn into any one of those players? or they can turn into Jessiman, Bowers, Pushkaryev, etc. All 3 of those players make Winnipeg better as it stands.
Maybe they turn them into Lane Hutson and Matthew Knies :o

In all seriousness, I probably take Vilardi, but I would kind of loathe taking on Iafallo. Every game I watched with him he reminded of Alex Kerfoot...like what are you even doin out there.

Mostly I just like watching Hab fans squirm!
