LAK trades Bendan Lemieux to PHI for Zack MacEwen

I'd assume he's play a role similar to Pepe. Warm the press box and get in the odd game when Todd feels like it.

He seems like he's good at getting punched in the face so that should be fun. Looks like the forward version of Zmolek.

I'd rather have Lemieux, he does his job better.

Zack is about as good as a scrapper as Austin Watson. Basically a big punching bag that technically weighs less than Lemieux.

I think they want hits not fights.. and less penalties than what PeePee provided.. its totally lateral and hair splitting to even discuss

Nah, maybe penalties sure but hits it's not even close.

MacEwen has 13.77 hits/60 compared to Lemieux's 20.66 hits/60.

Lemieux was a straight up wrecking ball and much better scrapper.

so kings basically got a worse player but saved some prorated 500k on salary for 5th rd pick... like i said its lateral - and almost worthless move.. maybe this guy gets less rep penalties and only bites his gf ear lobes when asked

Purely from a physicality and fighting ability standpoint, it's definitely a downgrade. But either way, I don't expect him to see much games with LA. He'd have to replace Grundstrom / JAD and it's hard to imagine any sane coach would do that at this time of the year.

Did you watch the past few games? Kings players have been getting pasted left and right. I have season seats and there is at least one big hit the past 4-5 games laid upon a Kings player by an opposing tougher player.

As the proud owner of a Doug Zmolek jersey that I paid for the customization on purpose, that is high praise indeed.

TM said that Big Mac is a right handed shot, which the Kings don't have many of.

As much as I love Lemieux, Zack MacEwen has fought Chara and guys that Lemieux could never fight. Pepe is a middleweight, Big Mac is a light heavy/heavy.
Lemieux is listed as 12lbs heavier than MacEwen.

Again, Brendan is the better player in that role. Very weird trade by Blake.

I just see it as simple as trading a guy who isn't allowed to hit for one who is and that's about it

The last few games, lots of guys have been getting drilled with nothing being done afterwards. Kopitar getting hit, then Byfield having to get involved afterwards might have had something to do with it. They really had nobody who could hit back without get 12 min in penalties.

You aren't winning the Cup because of a slick power play. They lost confidence in Lemieux and are thinking Mid Mac might be able to play that role without putting the team on the PK once a game.

Worth a shot. Get that sweet RFA status too for a guy you weren't bringing back. You'd have to be Blake's mother to hate him enough to criticize this trade.

Its probably like this, Pepe goes into a scrum and says the wrong thing, it's two, then argues and get another 10 . Kings give up a pp goal.
MacEwen goes into a scrum, plays it cool, and thats it. no penalty, no goal against. Pepe was costing them goals.

6-3" vs 6-0"

His aquisition helps with toughness and allows us to sit Edler a bit down the stretch.

Sounds weird but with Gavrikov now here, Grundy back the addition of McEwen who can provide some bite we aren’t just relying on the old man to be that big bodied physical presence.

Anderson has developed some snarl this year and even QB has thrown some bigger hits lately. We have a lot of big bodied guys on this team.

McEwen can also take an NHL shift and play a bit of center. I liked Lemmy prior to the injury but he has not been the same since he came back.

Grundstrum- McEwen - Kupari could be a fun line to watch if we need something stirred up.

Please.

The best sandwich is thinly sliced london broil with smoked gouda and Phillipe's mustard on cracked wheat sourdough.
The question was what sandwich he likes

Correcting someone on their favorite sammich may be the most arrogant answer in the history of the internet.
Stay in your lane

What's with people spreading misinformation about this trade on here about MacEwen being so much bigger and the more notorious hitter when every stat says otherwise.

Lemieux hits twice as much, and to compare the size of the two it's 6'1 215lbs to 6'3 205lbs.

Brendan would be considered a heavy weight and MacEwen a light heavy weight according to the UFC. The only thing this trade benefits us is less penalties though that's by a very VERY slight margin.

You can't even make an argument about position with him being listed as a "Center" when he's taken less than 30 faceoffs, having won only 13.

Also in terms of drawing penalties MacEwen had 14 where as Pepe had 12 in 19 less games played. So it's not like we'll be getting more powerplay opportunities. Pretty much a pointless trade for Blake to make.

Rumors of Lemieux being in the player assistance program?

I loved Pepe, but after his great year last year - 0 goals this year, missed 20+ games with injury and then a leave of absence for personal reasons.

Would the Kings really re-sign him?

If I'm making a trade with Philly for a goon it's for Deslauriers.

Also the addition of a "tough guy" while trading our only one does not make this team harder to play against. Such a bone headed decision by Blake.
