Out of curiosity I went on hockeyfights.com to check out Zack's and Brendan's fight record and in there last 10 -

So in terms of pure scrapping ability we moved a meh scrapper for an even more of a meh scrapper.

Lemieux also got a lot of reputation penalties.

I'd take toughness but fewer BS penalties because of a shitty rep. That might have contributed to his decline in play as well.

The big thing I see is that Lemieux is not playing right now and maybe not for the rest of the year and Blake went out and replaced him with a cheap option that only cost a fifth round pick. It sounds like Lemieux was sent back just to get the contract number off the books.

You do realize that he signed for three more years after this one at almost $2 million a year and is already 32 years? It’s going to be tight enough trying to keep the players we have with the Space that we have, can’t see Blake given up that much money a year for a fourth liner.

Chara didn't give MacEwen much of a choice to go or not.
