Does CBJ get anything else besides a 1st and Quick?? Asking price for just Gavrikov alone was a 1st and a 3rd.

Given the way the deadline has unfolded that's still a good salvage by Columbus. Remember getting Matt Frattin and a 3rd for Gaborik? Or the time Islanders got Sebastien Collberg and a 2nd for Vanek after giving up a first and still producitve Moulson for him? Imagine having to pawn Gavrikov off for a 3rd three minutes before the deadline because you missed out on everyone else

What were Blake's options here?

Whether you think Gavrikov and Korpisalo were the right acquisitions or not, cap needed to go back to fit them in and the Kings desperately needed goalie help due to Quick crapping the bed this year.

Should they have gave up extra picks to have some team take on Walker and have the Jackets retain money?

If so should they then have kept Quick as the 3rd goalie so he could stay in LA, even if it meant having to only go with 1 spare at forward and defense to keep him in the press box? Would it have been any less a slap in the face or any less disrespectful to send him to the AHL to end his career?

Not a lot of great options here. Ultimately this situation is Quick's fault for completely failing to provide NHL quality goaltending this year. Feel like if he weren't a Kings legend he would have been dumped or sent down a lot earlier in the year.

Columbus going for a quick retool by getting Quick, already having Gaudreau ,Werenski, and Laine and hoping to hit the jackpot this summer picking Bedard. jarmo even said it last summer when he signed Johnny hockey, that his team is not far from contending.:laugh::laugh:

quick elevates his play in the playoffs. When he’s in the zone, there aren’t many other goalies I’d pick over him. He’s that good.

Korps hasn’t proved anything to be thought of as a legit starter. He’s been terrible for most of his career and hes not exactly that young.

I would have given Quick one more playoffs as the starter. He was very very good last playoffs Vs Edmonton. He literally stood on his head for 7 games.

Last year, bud. Have you watched any Kings games w/ Quick in net this year!?

weird to see two of the iconic players from 2 of the best teams from the 2010's alongside Pitt move two very iconic players. Both have strong arguments as the best American born players at their position, and played in large markets.

One knew and discussed it with their GM, then was willing to be traded to a contender. The other found out as he was changing out of his gear at the end of the game. The flight home must suck.

Quick was simply a means to acquire that LA 1st

He didn’t carry us to the cup like Quick did to their cup wins. He was serviceable at best, and I’m saying this as a diehard fan.

Not even a close comparison. Nice try tho.

Patrick Roy won us 2 cups and retired an Avalanche goalie. The only reason we even got him is a trade that has been scrutinized for decades.
So you're an Avs fan, and your team just let their cup winning goalie walk. And you're lecturing about how cup winning players are different and must be kept until they want to leave no matter how they play? Quick has been way worse than Kuemper. Quick might just not deserve a job. You've been exposed as a hypocrite.

No shit

Should they have gave up extra picks to have some team take on Walker and have the Jackets retain money?

Also no shit

Flushing one of your greatest franchise players so you can nickel and dime assets is an absolutely terrible look and more likely than not will reflect on their play on the ice. If they're so incompetent at finding talent that this is how much they need to save an extra mid round pick just hire better scouts to hit on a fourth rounder NCAA player or waiver claim like Tampa does

Report. One reporter has said that so far.
Do we have any reason to think he wouldn’t be pissed though?

I mean he’s likely going to retire after this year and he’s on a team that’s going to make a run. Then he gets traded to Columbus who is fighting for the bottom in the standings?

Team prowess aside, he now has to move to Columbus from LA where he’s lived the last decade plus?

I eagerly await the report that says he’s thrilled about this.

That’s true but he has been completely off this season. He’s slow reading the plays and and he’s so out of position.

Yeah, Kane got the way better end of the stick. Just weird to see both moving on. Both are so iconic to their franchises. It's just the reality of the cap and underperforming players. In a cap world its hard to carry legacy players on high salaries out of loyalty to them, especially so when you can only really carry two goalies and you can't bury them on the 4th line. Like, even in a back-up role, you can't carry a goalie with a sub 90% save percentage (which Quick has been 3 of the last 5 years) unless you are trying to be bad, especially at a high cap hit, no matter there historic importance to their franchise.

If the Kings put Dustin Brown's number in the rafters, Quick's will shortly join it.

No I haven’t but I’m a big Quick fan and I’m not convinced that he’s done. I still think he has some left in the tank for another cup run. Last year was proof of that. Goalies at his age aren’t going to be great every single year.

Pure savagery to do that to one of your greatest players right before retirement.

In the same report he says the locker room was pissed. And watching the postgame interviews you would (and the reporters) would have been easily able to tell something was off (“vibe wise”) in the locker room

Quick won't report. They'll ltir him or some shit, and that'll be that. Jarmo just wants the pick.

Edit: woops, nvm, quick is totally getting flipped to another team
