So much individual talent on display with Pittsburgh, but no structure to their game at all.

Great game by Muzzin. Nice to see him get rewarded with some points today. Jake has been solid and anchoring that 2nd pairing well this season.

It was a great game by Jake, he bailed A-Mart out a couple times, Marty owes some dinner.

Quick's save percentage takes a beating again today, but all 3 goals against pretty much unstoppable.

But the main boards told me Lucic was supposed to be slow as **** and past his prime?!?!?

Lucic bulldozes through multiple Penguins and scores while being slashed and is like...

Quick's rarely gonna have a pretty save percentage since the Kings play control and try to avoid letting the opponents shoot so when they do get shots, they're more often scoring chances than just garbage from the outside. That's how it feels anyway. There was that article that showed that Quick was just unusual had really high peaks and valleys.

Always going to have a below average sv%, the Kings don't allow enough shots for sv% padding. Quick is not going to shutout every game, the average NHL goalie allows around 2.0 GA a game.

If you look at games historically over Quicks career, when he faces over 22+ shots, Quick is above the league average .918-920 SV%

I still can't get over Lucic on that empt net goal. Dude was like, "**** out of my way, I got this guys.

A ****ing freight train. Like a dog after a rabbit.

I especially like the off-hand-stick-drag-the-puck-snugly-into-the-net-****-you ending as well.

Beautiful. :)

We know when he's having a bad game anyway. Gets super scrambling with garbage, loses track of the puck, lets in low shots on non-scoring chances.

Today he gave up the goals he's usually going to give up... high shots.. Crosby's redirect was masterful. Meh.

He got goal support today. :)

Posted this on the game day thread and I'll do it again.
How anyone in hockey does not vote Drew Doughty for the Norris is beyond pathetic. This game alone should tell everyone what a Norris trophy candidate should play like.

Doughty should have at least 2 Norris trophies by my count, i don't care what anybody says, he's hands down the best D in the NHL

Tonights is a classic example.

Fluery 4/36 .889 sv pct
Quick 3/20 ..850 sv pct

This he did allow more goals today and you will allow those 2+ goals a game on average if you face 3-50 shots. Kind of crazy but that's what it is.

Kopitar was good today. It seems that the Penguins always bring the best out of Kopitar. He seems to really turn it up when he plays these guys.

That's what I was saying.

GREAT players, bad team.

Another dominating performance even if the scoreboard didn't show it.

I think that was more due to us than it was to Pitt being that bad. They've been good, but not great, but as you guys say, they have the talent to pop through even when things aren't going well. But give our team some credit for making some very talented players look mostly average.

Amen. He could have been better, but I wouldn't hang any of those on him either...but yeah, regular season save percentage is the only measure of goaltending, so yep.

It was beautiful.

I mean aside from the breakdown scary moments--that will happen when you have that many talented offensive players in one place--that was a completely one-sided affair. Glad they got the result they deserved, imo.

Shore is coming around nicely, minus absorbing Lewis' spirit tonight. Improves every game and that's what you want to see.

oh, and McNabb getting dangled was lollllll and I could see it coming from a mile away, you could see both parties thinking about it.

If he can just get a few more points he's a lock eeeevery year. Doughty is as good defensively as any shut down defenseman but just needs to up his points because that's pretty much what the Norris is about for the most part.
