Am I the only one who thinks Looooch is gone after this year. He's been awesome. I feel this team plays with more confidence and waaay tougher with Lucic on the team. Just look how he sticks up for teammates and scares the crap out of the opponents. We haven't had a player like Loooch in a long time. Love these types of players which we don't see too much in the league anymore. Wendel Clark, Rick Tocchet, Cam Neely, Brenden Shanahan, kinda miss the old NHL.

He's been everything the kings could have hoped for. I really hope they find a way to keep him.

He won't be cheap and I have a feeling he wants to go home and Canucks will break the bank for him for sure. Assuming they can.

They might be able to but his going home is going to mean no chance for a cup for a while. Sedins are aging out, youth is fantastic but no 1C in there, defense is a mess, etc.

He'd provide a lot, don't get me wrong, but it's a retirement contract if he goes there. I don't know if we can afford it, but he's looking like he's loving life right now.

I know I'm seeing it through rose colored glasses but why on earth would he leave LA, to play for a team that is just about to start there rebuild? Guy seems like winning is important.

Damn I missed this game, but it was out of necessity. Nice to see a win, but most importantly, **** Chris Kunitz.

Is it just me, or does Phil Kessel look fat ?
Look like a real life bobblehead to me.

If you look at this sister, with Phil something has gone wrong.

Now if you mix this up with Phil, you get this.

I still think his sister is more attractive.

Someone please link to the interview where he parsimoniously cusses the **** out of Canucks fans? No way he's going to Vancouver.

Posted this on the game day thread and I'll do it again.
How anyone in hockey does not vote Drew Doughty for the Norris is beyond pathetic. This game alone should tell everyone what a Norris trophy candidate should play like.

I mean, he did get the most 1st place votes for the Norris last year.

I never had a problem with Lucic. Big powerforwards are my favorite players.

Point is. Most likely we have him for just one season and gave up valuable assets for that. Kings prospect pool is very thin already. As contender we had a chance to draft 13th overall in one very bad/odd season and gave that pick away. Miller would have been a nice asset and Jones should have been swapped much earlier already.

I will only change my mind when the Kings reach another SC final, not after some useless regular season games which we all have forgotten within a couple of months.

You would have to retain salary though to even move him, a buyout would also be brutal.

No one is taking that contract, without significant cap coming back.

Lombardi lucked his way out of Richards contract, that won't be happening with Brown.

Expansion Draft.:)

Every time the Kings face the Penguins, I think back to watching the SCF in 2009 and being so jealous that the fans of the two finalists were so damn lucky to have teams that good. Wondering if we'd ever get there. 6 seasons later and the Penguins couldn't hold the Kings jock and Kopitar and Jeff Carter are out there outplaying Malkin and Crosby head to head. Good times.

I couldn't be happier with Lucic. I'm not sure I buy the whole going home to Vancouver thing, because how many times do players actually go to their home team? And how often does it work out? Rarely. I'm not saying the Kings re-sign him, but I don't think Vancouver is a slam dunk to steal him. That being said, the Kings gave up a lot for him. But if the Kings didn't acquire him, we'd be talking about the rebuild right now instead of being in the conversation of contenders, once again. Don't look now, but the warning signs (for the rest of the league) are surfacing. Best team defense in the league, top 5 PK, the ability to win on the road, tops in advanced possession stats. If DL trades for a CBJ at the deadline, look out!

Expansion Draft.:)

Again, no reason for an expansion team to take Brown in the expansion draft. Expansion teams will be taking a player from the following list:

McNabb
King
Lewis
Martinez
Shore
Pearson

The Kings will not be able to protect all of those guys. If you want to dump Brown on an expansion team, even though he will be unprotected in the expansion draft, the expansion team will only do it via a trade. While an expansion team may be willing to take on the entire cap hit, they will want additional picks and/or prospects in the deal, and the Kings will receive a low pick in return.

Also, is NHL expansion happening in time for the 2016-17 season? That's when the Kings start to need additional cap space if they are going to give Kopitar a substantial raise and re-sign Lucic.

Good chance Lewis is gone this summer, and King the one after. Also, if they use the same format as 2000 and they go 9-5-1 they should be able to protect Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez and McNabb.

No, being that the start of that season is 10 months away, and we still have no official announcement.

Apologize to the mods for going OT.

If I was Dean, I would look to trading Martinez before losing both Lewis and King. We seem to have more young defensemen ready to move up than we do forwards.

I don't see the Brown contract as being tradeable. Either Kopitar takes a hometown discount, or Lucic takes one or he won't be here next season. Kopitar's AAV may also impact the roster in potentially losing a guy like Lewis.

Hope Mersch and Zykov are close to being ready.

It really comes down to money in my opinion I'm pretty sure lucic wants to get paid if not Vancouver certainly someone else will pay him. You're right we cant afford him. It would be awesome if Dean found a way to keep Lucic.

Not to rain on the Lucic love parade, but I highly doubt he'll be able to continue this level of play/production for many more seasons. It's unlikely he'll be worth the contract it will take to keep him.

That said, he's been a god send thus far. The secondary scoring he's provided is exactly what this team needed.

I wanted to add that Weal had a couple of shifts where he was good on the fore check. For all the people clamoring that he needs more ice time, that is the stuff he needs to do in order to stay in the line up and get more ice time. I can almost guarantee you the coaches are telling him that. He'll also be more likely to create a scoring chance doing those things. I get the when you only get 8 minutes of ice time that your minutes are magnified but that is all the reason more to make those minutes count.

Not saying that Lombardi would put Brown up in expansion draft or Brown would definitely be claimed, but you forget that all teams have a cap floor they have to meet, which means they HAVE to get some high price contracts... and most teams won't put up high price contracts of worthwhile players to keep.

Brown, while overpaid, is still useful, and would be a valuable leader player to an expansion team if they chose to take a flier on him.
