Funny, right after the Brown hit, Dillon may have been in position to interrupt Pearson but he took a shot at Brown instead. Whoops.

not to mention, pearson didn't have too bad of a hit just before that. i think that dude definitely stepped up his portion of physicality for the playoffs in todays game. really impressive sans that stupid penalty

LOL you guys talking about shades of other series changing hits, that hit wasn't even that hard, just solid and more importantly, timely. not even on an importantly effective impact player.

whos the next option on defense? Schultz? Forbort? Gravel? Im scared

I'd imagine Sutter would want a puck mover and it's not like McBain had THAT much more experience than Gravel, and had 0 playoff games until now too...

...so he's going with J Schultz naturally.

...Nah I refuse to believe even Sutter does that. FOUR plugs back there? too much.

Timely is what every one is referring too. Nobody care's that it wasn't that hard of a hit, it was Dustin Brown separating the player from the puck leading to a scoring chance. Something we loved him for early in his career and has been sorely missed from his game the last few seasons.

All the same folks I have read s**** on the Kings heart and will over and over again continue to amaze and occasionally amuse me.

They might not have what it takes to win a cup every season it's just so frustrating to still see people still questioning the balls of this team.

Exactly, that hit brought San Jose's attention onto Brown. Brown is an effective player when he has the opposing team going after him.

That McNabb hit was a touch late imo. But I don't feel bad with the Sharks steady diet of PPs.

McBain must have died. 5 minutes of icetime. McNabb felt like he played a lot but only about 10.

Schenn and Scuds over 20. Muzzin nearly 30. Doughty 35.

HOly ****.

Yeah, if Sutter can't trust McBain with more than 6 minutes of ice time, why not just play Gravel?

100% a series changing hit. Lead directly to the series saving goal. Of course maybe the Kings still score after that but doesn't matter, they did score because of the hit.

5v5 h2h matchups: according to this cf stats the best line tonight was clifford, lewis & versteeg. it was also the only line that sutter didn't mix much. so the depth is there, and that can become of huge importance as the series develops.

yeah, pretty much confirms what I saw

Given how pumped Kopitar was when he scored and how they reacted on the winning goal, I really do hope this is the win that gets them back to playing "Kings hockey." Like the confidence boost the team gained after winning Game 4, they went on a roll after that and really suffocated the Sharks' offense.

It is going to be a hell of a challenge though given the current state of this blueline. No Mitchell, Greene, Voynov, Regehr. Going to need Doughty and Muzzin to perform yeoman's work.

I was looking over the minutes for the 2007 Ducks just to get an idea of how much they were dependent on Pronger and Niedermayer. There were games where the two played 35+ minutes along with Francois Beauchemin. The only other defenseman to log 20 minutes was Sean O'Donnell. Their bottom two dmen, Huskins and Jackman, both logged less than 10 minutes. If only Martinez was healthy, I think having a 3rd dman being capable of logging 20+ minutes without being a liability would've been huge.

For the most part, Schenn played a safe and sound game. McNabb was a disaster and his reduced ice time reflected that. This team can go as far as Doughty, Quick and Kopitar can carry them and they can't afford to take anymore nights off.

Kopi's reaction after the goal gave me chills.

Sick of hearing about Shark domination, bad reffing, and the adversity San Jose endured in game one.

If LA gets by them with this defense it will be something else. Go get the next three boys.

Go Kings Go!

If Pearson got one game in the playoffs a few years ago, it could happen to Gravel. Not likely, but possible. Who else do you play as the 6th man?

I agree, you can't question the heart of this team. We can and do question the execution, though. I think some of you take the moaning and groaning to heart too much, though. We might be sarcastic about the mistakes, but we love this team and maybe hope we can reverse jinx them to victory.
