Pearson's nose for the puck really reminds me of Justin Williams.

Tanner Pearson, Mr. Game 3.

I could take a double shot espresso and sleep like a baby, but this overtime squeaker has me so amped up I can't sleep so I'm lying here watching NHL Tonight. Jonathan Quick is the #1 star of the night. Kevin Weekes called him the most exciting goalie to watch in the NHL.

Brown in the third period/OT was the best Brown I've seen in a LONG time. I want to see him play hard on the line like he did last night going forward. Quick was a beast.

Great to get the win, boys looked much better....but the lack of offensive punch is DISTURBING.

People keep saying both teams played bad. I disagree, I think it's the opposite. Both teams played such a structured clog-up-the-neutral-zone game that it cancels out each others offense. It makes getting a scoring chance at even strength very difficult.

As a viewer, it doesn't exactly make for good entertainment.

If the rest of the games are going to be like this, goaltending will be the deciding factor.

good win last night, folks. Now take game four and get this bad boy back to being a series again!

Great stuff here Jason:

Two selling stats...

One, possession tilted in the Kings favor as the game wore on, mainly because they were hitting and didn't let up. Wore the Sharks down.

"... the Kings outhit the Sharks 61-39 while maintaining manageable possession numbers (Meaning they weren't just hitting because they did not have the puck.)"

That's Kings hockey - also winning hockey, so hopefully the guys build on that.

Quick was unbelievable.

Master game by Quick.

Quick is definately the difference maker, no matter how bad we are, Quick making that extra save or two IS the reason why we won

however we can't neglect our Ds improvement (and by improvement i mean less McBain, less McNabb and More Doughty = win!)

here is the breakdown the past three games

Game 1: SJ 4-3 LA
Shots: LA 24 - 23 SJ
F%: LA 46% - 54% SJ
PP: LA 1/3 - 1/4 SJ
PIM: LA 8-6 SJ
HITS: LA 36-32 SJ
Blocks: LA 10-15 SJ
Giveaways LA 20-8 SJ

Game 2: SJ 2-1 LA - Kings improve!
Shots: LA 27 - 23 SJ
F%: LA 60% - 40% SJ
PP: LA 1/5 - 1/5 SJ
PIM: LA 10-10 SJ
HITS: LA 47-40 SJ
Blocks: LA 17-28 SJ
Giveaways LA 14-7 SJ

Game 3: LA 2-1 SJ (ot) KINGS HOCKEY
Shots: LA 24 - 30 SJ
F%: LA 57% - 44% SJ
PP: LA 1/3 - 0/5 SJ
PIM: LA 12-8 SJ
HITS: LA 61-39 SJ
Blocks: LA 27-18 SJ
Giveaways LA 8-17 SJ

just tweeking the F% gave us more possession time to compete better, but diminishing the turnovers AND Quick's solid play are important factors in our win last night

Can't neglect how badly we out-hit SJ either

many things were done right

this is a series where it's all stats; not many intangibles, it's pretty clear cut: have the stats in your favor and you win the series

basically what i get from this, is it doesn't matter how "good" the sharks are

because they are not at all impressive imo

if the KINGS play like the KINGS we win this

plain and simple

and it starts, and always starts with QUICK!!!

scariest moments from this game was watching Scuderi and Schenn on the PK. I had to watch with 1 eye closed.

I'll gladly eat crow as long as we keep winning. Actually turned the game back on half way through and stuck with it. I can't believe we won with that defense, SJ should be embarrassed. Quick was just outstanding. Consumed way too much booze though, I'm paying for it right now.

The series can still end 4-1, but I'm glad we got that one. It feels like we could be turning things around, but we won't know until the next game if it's really that or if we just snuck by with one. Game 1 seemed close but wasn't; all three of our goals were sort of rare or fluky goals (bounces, shorthanded). Game 2 Sharks get an unusually called double penalties 5-on-3 to win, but the game is closer. Game 3 Sharks get their lone goal on a shot initially going wide but get a fortuitous bounce off McNabb. So looking at it that way, it feels like things are swinging our way, but still too early to tell.

After this game, I hope people don't place Schenn in the same light as Scuderi/Mcnabb/Mcbain.

He's gotten a little better each game IMO. He played 23 minutes last night. We have to remember this is the first time in his NHL career that he's actually been in a good environment to develop.

I love the hitting and ferociousness he brings. I hope he's resigned on a cheap deal, and we're able to use him in his proper role as a 5/6 guy.

He had 10 hits last night. No other Kings defenseman had more than 4.

Schenn could be a beauty if he just made better decisions with the puck, he always seems tentative with it. Christ I hope Martinez can make it back somehow.

Yep, Schenn looked decent last night. Maybe he had the jitters in game 1 and 2, cos he looked more composed and a less hesitant last night.

Agreed!

I spent half the night yelling at the TV to encourage Schenn to decide to do something with the puck. Everyone's heading up ice to go the other way and meanwhile there's #52 dipsy-doodling around until he has a forechecker in his face.

Despite that. He looked better last night!
