When you wanna f*** around, sometimes you gotta find out': Kane on physical Game 2

Yeah, like to see a Kings player talk this way and back it up. Team has no ballz. We miss Williams the most. No way we can go to war with the players currently on the roster.

This feels a bit like a pile on. I think its a fair point. Clarke is listed at 6'2 185 (who knows how over measured or up to date that is though) which would be pretty featherlight when added to our already softish defense. Can he handle some of the big rig forwards in the game, especially if paired with another smaller guy? Who is going to stop Kane or Klostin crashing our goalie?
To this day I don’t truly understand the nuances of defenses and schemes but can any defenseman be expected to handle guys like that? How many shifts a game would Clarke start in the defensive zone against that type forward?

His draft reports have him between 6’1” and 6’2” and 185 and 195 (probably taken at different times). It’s not unreasonable to think he’s now 6’2”-6’3” and 200+. Weight and strength will be the key one and if he ends up at 210 that’s perfect for that type of player.

His size for the draft certainly qualifies as decent if the 195 was accurate. To add 15 lbs between the ages 17 & 20 is not crazy although much depends on body type. He could easily step in a be one of our bigger blue liners.

We may have to move Iafallo, but we shouldn't "want" to get rid of him.

The Kings have to compete using depth, and Iafallo is a solid middle six forward.

The bit that people seem to ignore is that he resigned the Captaincy after the franchise said FU and lowballed him. His response was emotional and misjudged but I understood it. The franchise were the unfaithful ones…
Well, yeah, but that was his first stint. A lot of the comments are about his second stint and his work as an executive.

Yes, 19 and 20 year-olds need to add strength. But he's very capable of engaging physically. Which you and JU would have been able to see more of if he played more than 9 games.

But instead the entire season involved Durzi, a smaller defenseman who had zero physical bite this season, who we were accused of being too hard on.

Notice last night when someone ran MacDavid, Kilm Kostin went right for him.

Did anyone do that when Zadorov cross checked Byfield? Or when Josh Anderson flattened Kopitar? No.

Kings need to clear out the 4th line players and make room for players that have some actual balls.

Yes -- winner

This would allow them to sign both Gavrikov and Vilardi. Possibly Korpisalo too.
And also give Clarke a spot and Kaliyev a top 9 spot.
Iafallo played better late in the season and was good in the playoffs...has trade value.
Could have appeal to a NY team - Isles, Sabres, even NYR. Or any team that has cap room
or make a 'hockey trade' and get someone bigger. The Kings need to make room for youth
to get a top 9 spot and be a permanent fixture. Iafallo, Moore and Arvidsson are all small and
the Kings need size and a spot for Kaliyev. Moore probably not much appeal for takers,
after a 10 goal season and -2 as well. Arvidsson has more value to the Kings, than he would
get in a deal....he was mostly great in the playoffs and Kevin and Phil love him. Not to
say you keep a player because teammates love him, but I'd prefer to deal Iafallo, as you could get
value for him....I think if he's on the Kings, he'll have his annual 20 game funk of 1-2 goals, for that matter.

Grundstrom disappointed in the playoffs and need to give 1 spot available to: Turcotte, Fagemo, possibly Helenius, if he has a big summer and makes strides. Give him a up of coffee and see where he's at. JAD for thar matter, could have that spot. I want Pinelli and Laferriere to get big minutes and all situations with the Reign. Don't add more AHL vets on the Reign.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like Gavrikov is going to Florida.

FLORIDA:
Needs LHD
Has the Cap space
No state income Tax
Fellow Russians Barkov and Bob
South Florida has 'Little Moscow' Russian Community
GM knows Gavrikov from Columbus

Great analysis except that Barkov is Finnish despite his last name. Losing a #1 pick for a rental is criminal use of assets.

Oh. Haha. I always forget that.

And yeah. Blake traded a 1st for a guy who he knew would be very difficult to retain. Dumb trade.

That is the biggest takeaway. Blake had already had discussions with Gavriov and his agent about an extentsion prior to the trade and was shot down. That should have caused a pause to the trade or change the offer to 2nd.

I feel Blake got emotional after that blow out and traded away Quick and the 1st.

As we are against the cap I could see plenty of other teams outbidding the Kings for Gavrikov or Korpisalo. Pitts has 20 million in cap space and needs a goalie. Florida has less tax than California as you mentioned.

Stupid.

Both these guys are gone.

Blake has Moore and Anderson contracts kicking in and also has to re sign Vilardi.

Expect a mess of Peterson as one of the two goalies and Bjornfot in the top 6 D.

The Kings will likely sign an Edler type to play with Durzi or Spence on the third pair.

Most likely we sign a cheap journeyman Dman in the ilk of Maatta/Hutton.

Durzi plays 2nd pair LHD.

Bjornfot gets at least one concussion playing in the AHL getting crosschecked in the head all season long by goons.

Cap casualty. The Moore contract guaranteed one of Iafallo/Arvidsson was a goner.
My guess Blake signed him for non-hockey reasons (local boy)...So It's either one of those guys you mentioned or Roy...Something that will hurt. I think the marketing dept has too much influence.

they need a like x 100 button .. thx for mentioning JW (btw he used to be a scrapper in his early days)

Blake’s hands are tied, even if he wanted to make a change, no GM is getting a 4th coach when he has six seasons with zero playoff results.

Blake and TM are in this together now. They either have some playoff results next season and TM is extended or they don’t and both are gone.
As they both should be… if Blake truly sticks with Todd and he fails, then they both need to go
