Nic Hague had all of two fights in 100 games last season, you're romanticizing him. Carrier--not one single fight and 4th line minutes. Kolesar is the only 'legitimate' of the type of player you're wanting to describe, and he was limited in the finals for being a liability. Vegas isn't soft, but it's not because of these three.

Florida you just named 4 good-to-excellent regular players and a plug. That would be the equivalent of Fiala, Kempe, Iafallo, and Roy being actual bruisers. That's exactly the 'pack mentality' I described, not some dumbass like Englund.

We want the same thing, I just want it out of my whole lineup, not some token f***in 1 million dollar pinata on the bottom of the lineup stealing time from legitimate players and prospects.

All we're going to get from Englund isn't players feeling emboldened/spicy because he's got their back, they know he's a shitty journeyman that isn't long for the NHL, he's just going to take an instigator and get filled in by an actual NHLer when one of our actual NHL players gets wrecked by someone soft like Cogliano and Kempe et. al. don't push back. This guy doesn't move the needle in the slightest.

Hague beat on Nurse, a player who bullied the Kings two years in a row. That's enough for me.

Has anyone looked at the Ducks line up? They will be dressing Max Jones and Sam Carrick (who destroyed Lizotte at the end of year with a cheap hit), and Gudas. Who do the Kings have to match these players?

I would also agree that Central is actually worse than the Pacific.
While they have 6 out of 8 teams rebuilding, we got better by 4 out of 8 from 5 out of 8.
Seattle really got their stuff together.

i am pretty sure it was a balanced schedule last year and everyone played the same number of games against everyone else, division strength didn't matter....but could be wrong

But the statistics you always throw into my face contradict everything you just said.
Somehow i get the feeling we talk about the same thing, the team simply and plain doesn't have what it takes when it matters.
It's not just the coaching issue, the players themself are nowhere near filling the roles they are supposed to fill despite being paid as if they would

Kurri, there's years and years of evidence acrossed multiple sports showing that the regular season and playoffs are two seperate things entirely. Look at the years of playoff failure the Sharks had under T-Mac, look at what happened the year after he left. Look at the 2007 New England Patriots in football. Look at the Oilers and Bruins this past season.

Much the same way the 2011-2015 Kings were built for the playoffs, and always struggled in the regular season. The Kings teams of the last two seasons are built for regular season success but struggle in the playoffs. Doubly so with Todd behind the bench.

I do legitimately believe if the roster of the last two years went up against the Oilers with almost any other NHL Head Coach currently in the league, the Kings win both those series. Heck I would almost say that if you just send the Kings out with no coach at all, they still win. The talent and potential has been there. Maximizing it and taking full advantage is holding it back.

I am working on being more positive, so...
Lewis is a damn fine penalty killer. He'll be there to kill Fiala's dumb penalty. He's like Allstate insurance with the good hands

A part of me says they would never be dumb enough to put Lewis (don't get me wrong, I've always liked the guy) on the second line. But then the other part of realizes that they very well are dumb enough to put a 36 year old grinder on the top line with our most skilled player, rather then the best sniper on the team.
