I was a bit surprised that they practically gave no one qualifying offers, especially all the goalies. I assume they are going to sign more than one going into the season.

Looks like JAD, MacEwen, Andersson, Dudas, Schnarr, Paquette-Bisson, Hrenak, Ingham, and Villalta were all told to pound sand.

I think it is just Bjornfot, Fagemo, Thomas, and Madden that received them.
Cutting costs. Can't afford arbitration.

Wheeler you can give a contract with performance bonuses to keep the cap hit down. He's a right shot with size, which is nice, but he's not defensively capable enough for for the 4th line, and I'd rather put kids in the scoring roles in the top 9.

Bjugstad signed for 900K in each of the last two seasons. He probably gets more this year. Would be good as 4th line RW or C IMO.
At a minimum level contract we could make it work and rotate him around but it’s the size and physicality that Wheeler brings that this team sorely needs

JAD would be smart to look around, but he likely could get a one way league minimum $775 with LA if he choose to sign here. Hoven reported they were still trying to get something done, he's a good 13th man that can fill in and doesn't complain. and has leadership qualities, Kings didn't have much choice at this point being so close to the CAP and both JAD and MacEwen with arbirtation rights. They couldn't take the chance. I still think they will have to move one of these players (RV, Lizotte or Grundstrom) to fill out a 22 man roster. No way they can carry 23. I hope RV and Grundstrom stick around, no offense to Lizotte, but that $1.6 million would go a long ways and your scoring depth would take a serious beating moving Arvidsson.

Was looking at this afternoon, as much as I like Lizotte, I think you move him out....for anything 7th round pick in 2141, sure.....you sign JAD league minimum, or someone else at league minimum, then you rotate them and Turcotte etc, to get the cap moving, that gives another 900K not much, but enough to maneuver without giving up an Arvidsson etc

Turcotte should be taking the spot away from Lizotte and eventually Samuel Helenius.

Eventually, Kings have to move on from Grundstrom and Lizotte and start moving in Turcotte, Helenius, etc on the 4th line. Besides Arvy the top 9 are locked in for years....

Look at it like this Goldie, if you traded Lizotte and Grundstrom you could probably get 3 vets with size signed to the minimum and still have monies for JAD.. A 2 for 4 swap seems like a good deal to me

2. Antti Raanta

3. Thomas Greiss (He kinda sucks now but I've always been a fan.)

Broissot
Lyon
Nedjlvic
Strictly under $2 mil projected.
Might as well go with a young guy or a guy that you may extend if he exceeds expectations.
Copley is up at the end of the season so depending, you could bring in 2 new tenders then, including a long term starter with the cap coming off.

Missing the netminder.....and Grunstrom at 1.3 league minimum is 775 I believe so you are saying what, 525K etc? 1.6 1.3 2.9 / 4 725K don't think that gets you 4 players when Turcotte is at 825K

Why do do many of you not realize that it’s not 2010 anymore? Simmonds, Clifford… what the actual f***. They are washed up AHL fodder.

Really going out on a limb there. Question is why would NY do this?
They wanna make sure they have every shot before sending them to Senior Living chamber.

So does anyone still want to argue my point that we can't develop forwards, or is the excuse still going to be , it's because we didn't draft forwards in higher rounds to develop still being used?

Future looked so bright 3-4 years ago, it's a real shame the dev staff all got promoted instead of fired.
Your point?
When did you buy it from the handful of guys that said it before you?
Please show me the receipts..

The Kings continue to do development their way and will never change it.
Either a guy distinguishes himself as a solid player on both side of the puck and makes contributions or he is in the AHL or further down the lineup, and or eventually a cap casualty.
None of you guys sits in TMac's toll keeper booth nor behind the screen piloting Blake's eye in the sky...

I think they'll resign JAD, I don't know what his qualifying offer would've been, but if they believe they can get him cheaper then they will. He really doesn't have a lot of leverage.

Thank f*** they didn't qualify MacEwen, what a f***ing useless player he was.
He was as good as Kempe would be with a broken hand.
He may still get and offer, we need a deterrent and his jaw should be healed.
