Why not just put him in the AHL? Him and Portillo split games.
I mean, I am fine with that, but it still would be a weird move to spend as heavily as Blake has to compete in this window we have here and then turn around and spend even more on a hopeful hot goalie prospect that may not even be ready for several more years.

It would be brilliant to get a young goalie on an ELC that can play right now, but if they can't it would be weird that they are giving up valuable futures to not compete right now given the state of the franchise. I would think that their solution would be looking for a goalie that is ready to play immediately without question.

If they were giving up a 1st ++ on a goalie, you would think they could obtain someone capable with even retention if they had to.

Well, one thing for sure. Even if we are used the four defenseman we have, and Clarke and totally forgot about the six defenseman, our defense is still three times better than it was to start last year.

Goalie should have an easier time this year in LA. I would say goalies, but I don’t know if we can afford the second at this point.

Yeah there’s no doubt our defense is significantly better than last season. Would love to see Todd do some actual coaching and shake the pairings up:

Bjornfot-Doughty
Gavrikov-Clarke
Anderson-Roy
Spence
Clarke needs to earn that 2nd pair spot by showing defensive awareness and responsibility first.
Especially since we are rolling bargain goalies again.

I just think that Gavrikov is the best partner for a player like Clarke coming into the league. Doughty and Bjornfot have history and you don’t want Bjornfot with Clarke. And Anderson has too many other responsibilities.

It’s the classic shutdown vet with a puck moving youth pairing.

Draft just started. Would be awesome to see Nashville. Make a splash by bringing home townboy Arvidsson back home.

I really love the guy, but more has a no trade clause in his contract and no one will want him at his contract price and Roy is needed on our backend. Not sure what other trade pieces we have that carry any type of contract.

Man, Bettman gets a hard time, no matter where he goes

Anderson-Roy would be an awesome shutdown pairing, but I doubt TMac is going to split him and Doughty. Will just have to see how they handle Clarke, hopefully, they slot him up, but knowing TMac he will start on the bottom pairing and get minimal powerplay time.

Yeah sweet. Then in addition to the 1-3-1 the kings can play the left wing lock 50% of the time too since absolutely nobody is right handed. I’m sure all our offensively gifted forwards will LOVE it.

On a random note, does Axl message you guys of late about why he disagrees with you rather than just responding to posts? Or do I have an admirer? Lol
Nope. But he did message me once earlier in the season when i said one of his post was trolling. He was hurt and mad that i would say such a thing to him on the boards; and it might get him in trouble.
Ironically, it was in response to something you said Sol lol.

I don’t think Moores NTC kicks in until July 1, unless he negotiated to have one for the rest of this year

I knew there was a reason why I loved you.

But damn seriously. That’s weird.

I love the PM's. Never got them from Axl, but got a couple from people after the 2021 WJC's. But nothing was like the Richards cult that migrated over here in the summer of 2011, intensely loyal to their guy. I've never seen anything like it in sports fandom. I remember seeing some of them posting in Caps forums when Richards had his last run their, loyal as ever to the very end, complaining about his lack of ice-time.

Axl must be at the "other board" where he is universally loved and respected by all.

I remember the Mike Richards cult all too well. Some of the most insane takes and worship.

I don't mind if he goes by PL

But it's funny because that's like a half syllable faster/more convenient than "Pierre Luc"

Even his name doesn't like effort :sarcasm: :naughty:
