I feel like Rob Blake and co didn't really do their homework and are kinda just going with the flow this off-season.

Like , having no cap space left and still needing multiple holes filled couldn't have been the plan.

On a random note, does Axl message you guys of late about why he disagrees with you rather than just responding to posts? Or do I have an admirer? Lol
Yeah. He can't respond to posts. But I didn't have much to say to him.

Sorry to burst your bubble that you're not as special as you hoped. I know you and he have a special bond.

A solution for the 4th line could be this...

The Kings/Reign had Jacob Doty as the enforcer in Ontario, he got injured early in the season last year and they signed Tyrell Goulbourne, who has some NHL games.

Doty is now healthy - so maybe they sign TO or someone like him to a two way deal and shuffle him between the AHL and NHL to save salary cap.

McEwen or even someone like Kassian, Reaves, Lucic, etc will not accept a two way deal but there are other AHL/NHL tweeners that will.

Thats a good idea.
But I like trade Grundstrom and Lizotte for cap space to get a goalie and the RFA's.
L4= Turcotte - JAD - Mcewen to start.
If you get in a bind with injuries then use your plan
Make adjustments by the deadline to carry you through June.

Blake addressed this in yesterday's presser, it was planned and they've a plan as he discussed. 1 season of playing short of a 23 man roster at lease until the trade deadline. Good news is next year cap goes up and this works out.

I don't mind if he goes by PL

But it's funny because that's like a half syllable faster/more convenient than "Pierre Luc"

Even his name doesn't like effort :sarcasm: :naughty:

I think PLuc is the best fit, given the built in high risk, high uncertainty situation from day 1. The question is term (aka short, medium or long), of when it kicks in.

We are so missing the playoffs.

Id definitely consider it if they sent us back another asset.. I mean Blake is going all in for a 2-3 year window.. I dont think QB is going to help as much as a solid goalie would in next couple years.
I am not sold a goalie who is unproven in the NHL makes sense if you are truly win now though.

I want Askarov due to his long term upside, not the next 2 years. And not for QB. He is probably one of few players I would move Spence + for though.

If we are going to blow assets on a goalie, i can't image we do so on a prospect. We just got one in Portillo. Why spend more assets on a guy ready in 1-3 years when we need one RIGHT NOW. If valuable assets go out for a goalie (FRPs, QB, etc.), it's got to be for a guy who is established and plays immediately game 1 like Soros, etc.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Now I'm pretty confused. With $4.5M of cap space the Kings need to sign 6-7 players to fill out the roster. One of them has to be a goalie. Some of the others are RFAs requiring MQO (Fagemo, JAD, Bjornfot).

By signing PLD to a huge contract, this necessitates another move, but who can the Kings move to create cap space? Is Lizotte or Grundstrom getting traded?

Seeing how Blake gets taken to the cleaners when he is trading from an area of strength, I can't wait to see how much it costs him just to get an average goalie when he is over a barrel.

Who are they signing in that price range? It was clear that goaltending was the achilles heel last year. How can Blake think going into the season with Copley and another avg goaltender is the solution? I hate it here.

They really need to fix the goaltending situation because Copley ain’t it. The way he got stroked immediately when Korpisalo got pulled was very hard to watch. Kings need someone decent to be 1G

Anderson and Jary will want $$$.

This will have to be a player who will take less money knowing he might get a longer term deal next year. Likely someone who had a bad year or was injured.
