Kings surely have the most expensive 3rd line in the league now by a significant margin. $13,950,000. Even if you remove one of Moore or Arvi it's still up there in most costly.
Really curious what Blake's plan is now.

You are allowed to be over 10% over the cap for the summer.

The Kings might not carry 23 players, which is fine because of Ontario Reign's practice location - they can shuffle players back and forth for cap savings like Kayilev, Byfield, Spence and Clarke - that do NOT require waivers.

When the season starts, the team payroll starts to go down.

Maybe Arvidsson to Vancouver for Garland at 50% retention?

Seems like Blake will need to do something like that to free up cap space because moving Lizotte would not provide much in the way of savings

Arvidsson to Vancouver for Garland at 50% retention will give LA relieve for about 2 million dollars.

Kings needs all 4 million dollars to get goalie and one physical player.

Yes, but they will have no choice but trade one of Moore/Arvidsson for getting goalie and physical player for 4th line
Trade Thousands Oats guy he's not better than Arvidsson that's for sure and I don't give a rats ass that he's from California...send him to Florida or Arizona for the love of Pete and attach Li Zit too

I like the idea too.
Lucic is old and slow and no one plays a physical, fight and kill style anymore maybe Milan can go the KHL?

All this jockeying…scrambling to remain cap compliant just so we can sign another garbage goalie to platoon with Copley. Disastrous management.

As for Spence and Clarke, I expect Spence to get a good look this year (a good thing) and Clarke to either be the 7th D or in Ontario. This team has shown over and over again that they care more about a player’s age than anything and Spence is the older player. I doubt they both play at the same time unless absolutely necessary. Especially when you factor in Bjornfot.

Lots of "established" goalies are signing 5M contracts & getting destroyed. Leafs, Oilers, King's all got burned by this. I'm sure there are more. Hellebuyck asking 9.5 on his next contract isn't workable long term.

The move going forward is to find a young, cheap goalie that's looking to move into a starters role. Vgk cycled through 5 goalies last year? Just have to keep plugging goalies in until they find one that works.

This cap situation is a Brandt Clarke guarantee. Absolutely need his ELC number and potential offensive production.

Blake is all in. I think the era of "ELC slide at all costs" is over.

There is no "3rd" line. I think that's the point.

Better to have three "2nd" lines than the trad setup of designated 1st 2nd and 3rd lines.

I wouldn’t call any of the goalies on those three teams “established”.

Will Todd be able to cope or have a breakdown?
He’ll double shift Kopitar at center and LD.

I get what you're saying, but if you take into account there's only 60 minutes in a game, and that you can't roll the top three lines 20 minutes each, it ends up being a diminishing return. It would be better to use some of that salary for any of the other holes we've yet to fill.

Well yeah, I wouldn't say rolling the lines means perfectly even TOI.

It's about creating matchup problems for your opponent, and wearing them down.

If PLD plays up to his potential, and you can round out the 4th line and bottom D pair, the Kings will be very difficult to deal with.

They don't have any money to round out the 4th line, bottom pair D, or get a goalie. So they'll most likely have to lose one of Moore or Arvi which is what I meant in my original comment about having the most expensive "3rd line" in the league.

I think it’s very fair to consider that the way the Kings are moving is purely in the scope of beating the Oilers.

The top 3 of the division is pretty much Kings Oilers and Knights. Both teams are tougher than the Kings. It’d be a big win for Blake’s hot seat to beat the oilers. It’s very likely we play them again this upcoming playoffs.

Blake is trying to find a way to beat the Oilers and PLD is a result of that. Don’t be shocked when the Kings add some tough players on defense and or fourth line. The ability to have players willing to bang up Draisaitl and McDavid pretty much ensures a victory against the oilers. There’s no doubt the Kings are still active in the trade market. They’re going all in. It’s been the wrong move for a while but they’re absolutely building a team to specifically beat the oilers now.

That's the dilemma yes.

But I think we can engage in some cap shenanigans to get it done. I'm not sure if management and/or ownership is willing to though.

This may be true but you need a good PK to beat the oilers. After shipping off AI and Kupari (and daydreaming about jettisoning Moore too), last year's atrocious kill is now somehow much, much worse. It's almost as big a problem as goalie imo

Well if the Kings are trying to model the Knights success, maybe Moore or Arvi can have season ending surgery and be back just in time for game 1.
