In the 21-22 Kings season that you're watching, are they not currently in a playoff position? Are they the 5th worst team in the league in your version? Is Danault a King in your reality, or is there a completely different roster, and that's why you're talking about trading a guy that's built for the playoffs?
Why stop at Roy at the deadline? Kempe's value isn't going to get higher than right now. Retain 50% on that deal, and who knows what a contender would give you. Arvidsson has no protection. Retain some on that, and right now he's a 30g/60pt winger. A contender will give something for him too.
Since the team is supposed to be winning any games yet, let's get ready for 3 years from now.
The Kings have played hard and are tied for 3rd in the Western Conf. If they sell, that shows no confidence in the team from management....and also shows no loyalty to players they drafted or signed and developed; Kempe, Roy.
The Kings do not need more prospects - they have many blue chippers in (I consider Byfield and Kaliyev graduated) - Clarke, Turcotte, Vilardi, Chromiak, JAD, Madden, Faber, Spence, Grans, Helenius, Fagemo, Pinelli....why get more prospects?
Unless they are of the level of Byfield, Kaliyev, Clarke and ready next year, elite types and I don't think any team would part with their best prospect.
It's time to be buyers and get more 23-28 year old, solid NHL players that preferably have term. It's no guarantee that 1 of Calgary or Colorado win the west and go to the finals.
Anything can happen...like TBL losing 4 straight to the CBJ a few yrs ago. If the Kings are healthy and can add a Chychrun or scorer, anything can happen. Matters not
how close the Kings are to contending - they have taken a huge step this year...why not take another? No reason to take a step back.
