Aside from his first few years has he EVER looked threatening offensively? Not to me, he's not dynamic, never has been, his greatest strength, is..his strength, and the way he thinks the game.....
I don’t disagree. As others have said it’s the defensive side as much as anything, it’s the details. Small errors, details like losing battles that he wouldn’t normally lose. It’s just not quite right. Whilst he’s never been dynamic offensively he would often be dominant across all 3 zones and I just don’t think we are seeing him impose himself, at all.

However, I also think he’s very capable of resolving those issues, because I don’t think it’s a fundamental fall off in his ability. Maybe a consistent reduction in ice-time will help him? I don’t know. Maybe he had a minor injury that he’s been carrying, perhaps he’s just having one of those spells.

The reason you don't change him up on PK, is the way he thinks the game, now having said that, I think they do need to change him up DESPITE the way he thinks the game, I thought they were moving slightly away from him, last 5 games, he's had 2:34 (1st), 1:42 (3rd), 1:51 (T-1st), 2:24 (3rd), 00:38 (3rd) in terms of forwards....probably a game by game basis.....

Thinks it right or not (and I agree, he does) results are what matters and they aren't getting results. No harm in reducing his PK time by a minute or so and giving it to someone else for 4-5 games and see how it plays out, the PK is already near the bottom of the league.

Nobody wants old players with term. There is no "dealing" with that until the contract is very close to being done. That's not a Blake thing. That's not a Kings thing. It's a cap thing.
Dumping the contracts would be hard. Kings have a lot of ELC'S to offset the large contracts. One way of dealing would be to get a C/W instead of a pure W like Boeser. That way if Kopi slips a little more you have a backup option.

Surprisingly, the two worst penalty killers on the Kings in terms of failure rate (goals against per 60 minutes) are Drew Doughty and Anze Kopitar. These two get scored on so often on the penalty kill you'd think they enjoy it. Strangely, the coaches go right to them every time.

Not sure how strong that stat is, considering it puts everyone's favorite whipping boy Maata, as one of the best PKers on the team,

Of all the changes the Kings have made this season, clean breakouts from the D-zone (not routinely getting hemmed in and forced into turnovers), is the biggest one I've noticed. Makes the game so much more fun to watch.
It's one thing if the other team is cycling well and holding on to possession, it's another if the Kings are getting the puck back, but unable to clear or skate it out (super demoralizing). Win or lose, it's a fun team to watch when we're playing from the blue line out.

All I know is the longer the Kings try to live in two worlds--appease the vets and push the playoffs vs. develop the youth--their two goals will be at odds and we'll all suffer. The deadline scares the shit out of me right now.

Must be one f***ing helluva world, if you are suffering watching Kings playing winning hockey,

Just saying....
