To what end? What is bringing in a rental Kessel going to achieve. It won’t make us a contender and he isn’t going to be the difference maker in winning a single round IMO. Surely it’s better to get which ever prospect(s) some post season experience.

If we bring anyone in it should be with term but at the TDL you tend to overpay, so likely better to wait until the summer. I’d only move now if it’s someone that has been specifically targeted as a longer term piece and by waiting we’d lose him to another franchise.
Bringing in someone like Kessel gives us a much better powerplay which is a major weakness and if someone like Clutterbuck it would make major improvement to the pk.

I believe that there needs to be A move just to reward the players for exceeding expectations and to reward the fans. This shows a commitment to them. It gives them a chance.

Every single trade proposal should start with the following question: "Does this make the Kings a Stanley Cup contender over the next three to five years?"

If the answer is no, you do not make that trade. It's that simple. You don't trade off youth at this point to get a hard fought first round exit.

I shorten that to "will this make the kings win this year, or next"
I don't expect the team to be a contender next year but if there is player that moves the needle the next two years (and can then be retained) I would at least consider it.

I think your close if Kessel get his act together and plays up to his ability he would make the pp better. I think if we can get the pp to top 10ish we win more games. Win more game u become a better team I think a better pp is the key to moving up in the standing and becoming a contender. Kessel has a history of getting points on the pp. a 1st pp of Kessel, Kopitar,Kailev Durzi and Drew would be a very talented pp If it works we can look at resigning him If not he can walk no big loss

Kessel couldn’t be further from being good for this team.

He wasn’t what this team needed when he was 28, much less 34, don’t let a good shot distract you from what an Lone Ranger he is as a player. We don’t have a Crosby or malkin level talent to offset that.

JAD to be on a line with Kopitar and Kempe. Iafallo to be with QB and Brown.

JAD in place of Iafallo will be interesting to watch. I haven't seen much of JAD, and so I don't have a sense of his game but I hadn't thought of him as being an Iafallo-type player.

Iafallo with QB seems like it should be a big boost to that line.

Look at what Kopi has done for Brown over the last few years. He has made him a 20+ goal scorer He has made Brown a lot better over the last few years It comes down to who you think is better now Kessel or Brown I think Kessel is a major upgrade over Brown. So think about what a Kopitar can do for Kessel[s game. If Kessel is still scoring 23 ish with Cryoates think on a better team better line can do?

maybe we should be at the point of thinking what bringing in X player could do for Kopitar? Kempe has been great for him this year, and I thought Arvidsson would have been too, but they did not mesh like RV and Danault.
I am against bringing in another forward but if we are I want it to be a top line player under team control. That is not Kessel.

Well I actually prefer them not to have any control over him next year. I think it lowers said price for player. It also allows team to walk away if it doesn't work out new ufa (Forsberg comes to mind)could be signed Or let a younger player get a shot (Fagemo Turcotte whoever) If player get hot and works out he can be signed I believe it comes down to price if you can get Kessel cheap like 3 rd and C prospect cheap it would be worth the gamble for the upgrade of Kessel I prefer to keep are better assets to upgrade lhd and goalie Not saying it doesn't come with some risk but no risk no reward

I find your reasoning sound....i still don't want it. haha

With Lemieux out, I wonder what the lines look like next game? The blender was actually pretty fun.

Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Iafallo - Lizotte - Kaliyev
Grundstrom - JAD - Brown

If Lemieux is out for awhile would the Kings consider picking up Clifford from Toronto?

I'd like it but I know most won't.

And I think part of the reason Pepe is so effective is he has a screw loose, Clifford has always been too 'respectful' to really have the same effect. A fading KC would be a nice story but I'm not sure he answers much.

This is when we get Clutterbuck from the islanders if Pepe is out long term. Clutterbuck could help the pk and team toughness

Lemmy has the “criminal” element down. He keeps the culture where it needs to be, and the emotional involvement nice & high.

Let’s call it what it is. Pepe is a little shit.

Blake's last 4 adds have been great: Lemieux ( for 4th rd pick, 3-27-21) Arvidsson )2nd and 3rd rd picks 7-7-21) Danault (signs 7-28-22) Edler (signs 7-28-21)
and I can't wait for the next one, if it's nearly as good as these. Going back one more, would be Lias Andersson and still hopeful he can emerge here...or still have trade
value at least. Would love for him to get a shot now, with Lemieux out. Lias has great hands in tight, a decent shot, decent vision and was great on the forecheck and winning puck
battles this pre-season.

He did make a Tkachuk cry so he gets a pass.

Blake has had some good adds. He struggles with identifying when vets games drop off & dealing with that before it becomes an issue. Carter comes to mind. Brown is going on now. Next is going to be Quick, further complicated by Cal not taking the #1. Kopi is starting to look like he could develop into an issue sooner than later. Hope Blake becomes better at spotting & dealing with this.
