Hardworking is not relevant. If you want to go for the cup, your top wingers need to score 30+ goals.
If that happens, hardworking or slacking off doesn't matter.

If you decide to go for the cup, you need other winger.
If winning the cup is unreasonable for any reasons, you don't waste millions on old wingers and focus on your prospect development.

This is a knock on the mentioned wingers, it's just reality applied to every player
Guess Colorado won't win the cup last year, since they had only two 30+ goal scorers. One of which was a center.

Nobody whose contract is expiring and is over 30 years old should get an extension from this roster. Arvidsson will be 30 in his final year on his current contract. Signing someone from years 31 to 35 or so who isn't a franchise player should not be something this franchise does. On a 1 or 2 year deal, maybe if he's still productive by then. But if they must sign him, then something has gone horribly wrong and people in the FO should be fired for screwing up the prospect pipeline.

I think we've already established the FO has no idea what they are doing and all of them should be executed. Are we giving them an extension to right the ship?

I wonder what it will take for the Kings to start taking away Kopitars icetime. If that’s going to be the first line I think it’s pretty clear to say that Todd is going to be very top heavy again. Don’t know why he’s so reluctant to start balancing the deployment.

I love the crystal ball feature on this page -- do you guys charge for your psychic readings offline?

I’ll give you a free reading.

You will continue to spend a lot of your day on HF Boards being wrong about everything.

Todd just said to Hoven that he expects Byfield to play 15-18 mins a night. If that does happen, no way Kopitar plays 22+ a night.

you left out 'productive'. Last I checked, both players would be considered 2nd line players -- maybe Arvy can be considered 1st or 2nd. Are you implying we should have 4 wingers in the top 2 lines scoring 30+ goals each?

LOL, sign me up and you better hope the cap goes up as well.

I didn't leave out productive.
They are not producing on a level required to compete for the cup

Just because they appear to be our best wingers, doesn't mean they are the right guys to go forward.
17 goals and 20 goals are not what i pay top 6 player salaries for

And yes, i imply that the cup would be in grasp if your top 6 score 30+ goals

In fact, we only have one top 6 player in Kempe and this is why we go nowhere.
All this hard working and locker rooming is irrelevant if no skill is available

the 2012 and 2014 rosters didn't have a single player who scored 30+ goals. lol, just keep going man...this is fun.

I would be ecstatic if QB even got 15 quality minutes of TOI, let alone more. The last 2 kids who performed well pretty early were Toffoli and Pearson. They got 14+ minutes or so, but they were being chaperoned by a 29 year old Jeff Carter. That's how you break in your best wing prospects. By the time the playoffs rolled around those kids were cranking. Staple Iafallo to QB's wing to be his possession worker bee and see where it goes from there.

Yep, i just waited for something like that.
Not only is your statement wrong, this way to think is the main reason why we tolerate awful performances.
To win the cup, we would have to beat the Avalanche and their three 30+ goal scorers.

Rantanen 36
Mackinnon 32
Landeskog 30
Kadri 28
Nishushkin 25
Burakovsky 22

Let's take a look at the Kings, shall we?
Kempe 35
Danauld 27
Arvidson 20
Kopitar 19
Moore 17
Iafallo 17

Do we see any difference here?
And does it really matter if we are not extending 17 goal scorer?

That would be great. I hope it’s true. Todd showed zero trust last year so I’m wondering how much that will be implemented vs just being said
Yep, it will be great...will only help QB get 35 points or more and then I win your money.

I made the deal only with Herby because I think he can afford it. Sorry, sport.
Sorry, sport:

I'm not expecting much from QB out of the gate, but if TMac sticks with him and keeps giving him TOI, I think something will eventually start to click for him.

40 points, some flashes of potential here and there, with his game improving down the stretch would make me very happy.

I have no doubts he'll eventually be a quality NHL player, but watching him play I worry he's gonna be a player with a ridiculously low goals above expected number. Perfect King.

Ah, I thought I sorted by goals and apparently I didn't.

The previous full season unaffected by COVID (2018-19) only had 45 30+ goal scorers. This year had 51. That's less than 2 30+ goal-scorers per team. Kings had 0 30-goal scorers the two years they won the cup.

You were waiting for something like that, because you know absolutes like this are fundamentally flawed, but it's the only way you can defend this stance of letting otherwise quality players walk.

Edit: PS, Colorado's top-3 goal scorers combined a total of 98 goals. Edmonton's top 2 goal-scorers potted 99. And Hyman had 27. By your logic, they should have easily been able to beat Colorado.

Can we wait the two years til Arvidsson's contract is up before deciding what should be done with it?
No.. and that’s just my honestly reply.
We can let the year play out but “IF” some kids breakout, then you need to make space for him/them.
I personally view both Moore and Arvy as expendable. You can literally stick any of our guys with PD and they’d look good/great and that’s a testament to his play and leadership.

It's not just THIS year. It's this year AND next year.

Far be it for me to play message board police it just seems a bit early to be making any decisions.
