Have not given up on Gabe, but he'd better be ready and have jam. I thought he looked great the last few games of the season, then didn't get to play in the playoffs.
He played in a couple games against EDM. No points, a few shots, a couple hits. I wouldn't say I've given up on him, but I'm also tired of waiting. Doesn't seem to have speed or jam, which makes it tough to put him anywhere in today's NHL. A nice set of hands isn't enough anymore. He needs to find it in himself to take a roster spot from someone or the Kings should cut bait.

Fiala Kopitar Kempe
Moore Danault Kaliyev
Iafallo Byfield Kupari
Grundstrom Lizotte Lemieux
Vilardi Andersson

Anderson Doughty
Roy Clarke
Bjornfot Spence
Edler Durzi
Walker

Quick
Petersen

Rob. Move a D or 2...especially, if Clarke excels in his 9 game stint and sticks.
Wasn't 'Roy Clarke a country performer? lol

* Arvidsson injured

That is a solid team from top to bottom. Good mix of players. No holes on the roster.

But....can Kopi keep up with Fiala and Kempe? Can Chromiak push for a spot? I hope Kupari comes in stronger, with confidence and plays physical. I believe in him.
Those are good questions. But with all those ingredients on that roster things will work themselves out with some mixing and matching. But adding Chromiak is helpful cause he just knows how to score and they lack that exact player outside Kaliyev and Arvidsson. Fiala now also but hes a bit more dynamic not just a pure scorer.

Scoring has to be spread among three lines this season if the Kings plan to be competitive with the best teams in a 7 game series. Kopi had his choice of wingers all last season. They tried everyone to help get him going and he still was subpar and shot 9%.

Bringing players on board to try and keep him effective is a losing proposition as you should not be building around a declining 35 year old. But I'm sure he will be paired with Kempe and Fiala. How long that actually lasts will be interesting to see as not every forward's game works with Kopitar.

You know that gives me another thought, they should just bring Kopitar and Doughty into the draft meetings/table just to make sure so they don't do this again. Just have 8 and 11 make the picks and everyone is happy.
How dare Kopitar and Doughty want to win, when we should be playing underachieving prospects that haven''t shown a damn at the NHL level.

Off topic:
I miss David, Fugu and our old mods. This place has gone downhill since the LGK diehards are spending more time here.

The prospects dont get much of a chance. When you get stuck in the bottom six grinding not allowed to make a mistake you are not going to blossom. Kopitar and Doughty havent won anything at the NHL level since 2014. They had all their buddies on the team and had to blow it up. If the Kings go far it will not be on the back of Kopitar anymore. That should be obvious if you watch every game.
I dont know what LGK is.

If you don't think they have all their buddies on the team NOW......then you have no idea how teams work.

I was talking Toffoli Pearson Muzzin Carter Martinez Lewis. You think Doughty was good buddies with Fiala before this trade?
You act like you played in the nhl and are the only one in the world thats ever been on a team.

To expand....[MOD].... no, I don't think Doughty was good buddies with Fiala......I think he is good buddies with....Danault, Kopitar, Andersson, Durzi, Quick, Moore, Lemieux, Kaliyev, Lizotte, Byfield, Iafallo, Kempe, Roy, Walker, Spence, Kupari, etc....

Obviously to level of degrees......but your initial post insinuated that "Kopitar and Doughty havent won anything at the NHL level since 2014. They had all their buddies on the team and had to blow it up."

That they didn't win because they had....good buddies on the team.....[MOD]

That's true. But it's not a stretch to think that's what he wanted. For years people thought Kopitar and Brown should be split up, but they always ended up being on the same line because of their chemistry. Brown and Iafallo are his boys. AI did the dirty work for him, digs the pucks out, maintains puck possession until he gets into the zone. It's been mentioned numerous times in interviews how he likes to play with AI. I bet AI ends up on his wing again at some point this season.

Yup probs, i also have even money on him being traded sometime this season

I hope it doesn't happen this season, but it wouldn't shock me. Assuming a return to health and form, he'd be a valuable winger for someone like Byfield. Yeah, he gets paid like a top sixer, but the point is to graduate some of these prospects to the top six while contractually they're still cheap. So it wouldn't be a terrible thing to have IA providing 2-way skill and effort on QB's wing for at least this season.

You are a clown nobody likes you. You get called out dont have a reply and resort to belittling others. Mods should ban you from this place.
You say that because he is one of the few posters here who call people out on their dramatic, most likely un-true, bullshit posts. Way too much 'know it all' attitudes on this board from people who think they have all the answers and know the inner-workings of the team.

I'll give you a great example (not that anyone will listen)...how many question marks around here of the Kaliyev deployment on the PP? Everyone convinced it's this sinister mentality to set the kid up for failure or just ignorance on the side of the coaching staff. Well, if you listened to Jesse's interview with Sturm, it was actually quite the opposite....it's because that's what the kid was comfortable with. Think about that for a second...just maybe the org is putting the kid's confidence (comfort zone) as a priority. Crazy, huh?

You're right, that's a terrible example because the complaint about Kaliyev was much less about where he lined up on the power play and much more that he was the PP's leading goal scorer yet was only getting PP2 time infrequently AND they were getting screwed by starting the last 30 sec of every pwer play and often in the dzone becuase PP1 couldn't hit the water if they fell out of a boat.

It's not about 'call outs,' it's about bullshit sweeping generalizations on a point that has been reduced/minimized/deliberately misunderstood just so people can do that, like here.

I wouldn't mind AI on Kopitar's wing as it means Fiala would be on Byfield's wing.

(Assuming Moore - Danault - Arvidsson isn't touched, which I don't want it to be unless Arvy is hurt and if so I want Fagemo in that spot)
I’d put Fiala on Byfield wing every day of the week as I’d play the long game because he’s the type of player that helps draw the best out of QB. Getting the best from QB is essential to the success of this rebuild/retool.

I actually think Moore could make more sense on Kopitar's wing than Fiala.

This King's roster is an interesting mix of players. Todd to needs to earn his paycheck and figure out the right combination that allows them to win games while simultaneously developing young players.

Hi guys. And girls. I was a fan of Danault on habs page, so I have to come here to take news of him and I'm interrested in the depth center. How are progressing the new generation of centers beside Dano and Ko? Forgot their names, sorry. They are young and when they were drafted they were very highly viewed, very promising.
And also I was a fan of Kopitar, was dissapointed *they picked a goalie, name Carey P. How is Ko doing? He's getting old but do he have some spark and fluid natural skating, top end stick handling, I guess he's 80% he was in his prime. Better? Worse?

* Trevor Timmings with dg Bo Gainey

Very curious what's gonna happen with Clarke. He's looked good and proved he has nothing left to learn in the OHL, but who exactly is he gonna displace on the roster?
