Bjornfot is basically your Scuderi archetype, but more mobile and better puck skills. He's the ideal partner for Durzi or someone like Clarke. It's a shame Walker got injured because this was his chance to finally have a partner that wasn't a complete boat anchor in Edler to see what he could really do for an entire season. The blessing in disguise unfortunately for him is that there's a younger, cheaper more dynamic version of him playing in his spot now while he recovers. Walker's contract is trade friendly, so there's really no future here for him especially with the dearth of talented RHD in the pipeline.

I don't know if I would call Edler an anchor, he was outperforming Bjornfot in just about every category by a good margin against similar competition. I actually think Walker would benefit more from Edler, veteran presence and all that jazz.

I absolutely agree about Walker, the writings on the wall there. Durzi has been fantastic, it's almost uncanny how things have fallen into place for him.

Getting him was a fantastic piece of scouting by Blake and the org. I know Liljegren was the target on most people's lists, but I take Durzi over him every day and twice on Sunday. Two of our starting defense and a solid third line banger from that trade is pretty incredible. Couldn't ask for a better return, really.

Pretty sure he was saying Edler was the first non-boat anchor Walker's had.

So I was checking capfriendly and it has the Kings retaining on Carter until the end of 23-24. I thought it was only retaining on him for the end of this season. Did capfriendly mess up or am I confused?

I think you are correct...cap friendly did not mess up...the Penguins 'messed up' and just signed him for 2 more years the other day! The Kings obligation ends at the conclusion of this year.

Pretty sure last night was the second game in a row that Vilardi was first star for the Reign. When does he join the Kings again? Is there something going on behind the scenes that is keeping him in Ontario? Thanks!

I'm frustrated with how they're handling him. He has NHL talent for sure and should be on the kings, but the team is soooo crowded right now.

Kings need to do something.

When healthy, Kupari can't sit everyday and Vilardi can't be in the AHL forever.

What about the second tier prospects like Dudas, Madden, Thomas, and JAD? Eventually, one of those players will break in and deserve a shot.

I have a feeling Vilardi, Turcotte, and Kupari are on the table in trades. Kings will likely at least move one of them.

And why do the Kings have to do something if i may ask?

Youngsters will make the team when they are ready.
During their cup of tea with the big club they show if ready or not and the right thing to do, is to send them back down if not ready
Vilardi is exploding in Ontario because he had the chance to work on a new position and refining his skills
Same would happen to Kupari and Turcotte.
Give them some games, see where they are and if not as desired send them down to work on progress.

There is no rule or law that forces players to become NHL ready when turning 19
I would strongly advice to take a look at the Rangers, how not to develop players with great talent
Kakko and Laf are getting destroyed out there and will be declared bust for no reason.

Detroit did it right during their time of reign.
Most guys didn't make it to the team until being 24-25, their oldest rookie was freaking 31.

Players being ready at 20 is a myth. Just look at how many people gave up on Lizotte and Kempe right at the beginning of their career.

Who’s bullish on Kessel at the deadline of the Kings are still in it?

Depends on the cost. I think his output would be better on the wing of Kopi or Byfield but with just five goals in 41 games the cost better not be more than a 2nd or I'd pass.

Find a place for him. No, Brown is not retiring mid-season, or getting healthy scratched regularly.

He played his way off the team, and guys who didn't start the year here took advantage of it. He just has to wait. Sorry Gabe.

I've been a fan of Gabe's all along, so it's tough to watch right now. Totally get the fact that the Kings are very deep at forward, but I think they gotta reward him and get him in some games here soon. At the very least to see what they have with him again.

The Kings should absolutely re-sign AA. That so called -46 was on perhaps the worst team I've ever seen in the NHL (19-20 Red Wings). He was also just -1 on Edmonton and -6 on the Kings last year (which was by no means terrible just middle of the pack) and he's a +4 this year. Let's get real, the Kings are where they are in the standings due to their speed. And, until some good size shows up on the blue line that won't change.

I'm satisfied with AA's play. Is some bias occurring because he's not a home-grown prospect? He's not a Swiss Army knife, but he has top-end speed with finish.

Can you trade a player on LTIR during the season? or do you have to wait until after? Follow my train of thought here...

If we can, how about we look to a cap strapped team who will be in need of relief? Someone like Tampa, who have been known to make the cap work in their favor with LTIR.

What if Blake could pull something off around Sergachev for Walker +? They would need a D for now, is this something we could put roy into? It opens up the right side for any kids who may be able to step up, it gets us a high end 23 year old D that is a LHD but can play both sides and has plenty of big game experience.

Would that even be doable?

Perhaps but he was part of the reason they were so bad. I’m not saying he’s awful but I don’t see what we gain. Sure he gets some great goals but at other times he’s poor, for me all he does it take a spot in the lineup I’d rather use for Turcotte, Vilardi, Thomas, A N Other… he doesn’t address a specific area of need for us. I’d play him right now though, so we can move him for a pick at the TDL.

Eichel was traded while he was on LTIR.

And that would have to be a big + to get Sergachev.
Any worse than what people are willing to give up for Chychrun? And they get roughly 2.5 mil in cap space going into the deadline with walker and roy. How bad do you think they want the next cup?

*Not sure I'm working the LTIR cap space correctly

A plus player that scores has earned his spot. Exactly when has he been poor? Why do people keep wanting to throw away a trusty cow for a handful of magic beans? AA is everything we hoped Austin Wagner would become. If he's just taking a spot in the lineup (being 4th in points per game) I'd like to order up more of those guys.

I see Anderson as our Scuderi and Bjornfot more of a Martinez type. What we need is a Willie Mitchel type, big D to clear the front of the net. Get McNabb or similar and flip an RD for a youngish LD with some offense.

Bad enough to not deal a 23 year old stud D-man for a measly $2.5 mill in cap space. They'd need more than that to replace Serg.
