My co-worker is a massive Philly fan and watches every game as does my cousin. They were both willing to trade Provorov to the Kings for a bag of pucks just to get him off the team. They absolutely hate hated him. I have not seen him play much at all and was more impressed with Sanheim in the games I watched.

Can any others that have watched more Philly games comment on Provorov?

A buddy of mine is also a Philly fan and he absolutely hates Provorov.

Not embarassed anymore...

All 12 forwards skating in warmups and Dooley has them all in line rushes so the JAD recall doesn't appear to be related to any injuries.

*harumph*
So Kaliyev was just riding pine for no reason, not because he was injured. Really anticipating GoldenBear's witty gotcha comment- oh wait.

What comment? I have no idea why Kaliyev played the amount he did, you choose to assume because TM sucks, maybe he was injured and couldn't go, re-evaluted today and here we are....

Jesus the shit you guys try to chew on is amazing...

Strange...everything I've read says you can only do emergency if you go below 12 forwards or 6 dmen.

Edit: maybe the injured player magically healed? bizarre

JAD was recalled this morning and returned about two minutes ago.

It's unusual.

There's a limit to the amount of "regular" recalls you can make after the trade deadline and before your AHL team's season ends (4).

You are right about the emergency recall rules, but the rules also state that once the emergency situation has ceased the player must be returned or converted to a regular recall.

So I think the simplest explanation is that someone is banged up and was questionable this morning, if 12 forwards weren't ready to play JAD could have been inserted and they'd have saved one of their 4 "regular" call ups. Since the forwards all look ready to go the emergency is over and JAD has been sent down (at least on paper). Possible he travels with the team to Winnipeg. He is a Calgary native, so maybe he'll get to see his moms and the trip isn't a complete waste of time for him.

Now I'm not sure if the players we sent down and called up on the trade deadline for AHL playoff eligibility count as one of the 4 call ups.....so I don't know how many we actually have.

They've already used their 4 "regular" call ups on Vilardi, Byfield, Kupari and Spence.

All they have left is "emergency recalls"

The Kings also currently have 23 players on the active roster (13 F, 8 D, 2 G) so not sure how JAD could have been recalled without somone else being designated to the IR.

Not sure the CBA cares about F/D designation.

One of the article's I read did specify that it has to be like for like in regards to F/D, and the CBA states that the player being replaced has to be listed on the emergency recall form. I don't think IR is necessary because you could have 6 guys go down with the stomach flu for a day and would need to be able to replace them for a game but shouldn't be required to shelf them for a full week.

Playing with 11 forwards last night is likely enough "evidence" to justify the emergency recall today, and with the return transaction so close to game time they probably had Lias as the player replaced on the recall list and were just waiting to see how he felt in warmups.

Well turns out I was wrong about that bit...

From the CBA itself...

(m) Emergency Recall.

(i) A Player on Loan to a club of any league affiliated with the League may be Recalled from such Loan under emergency conditions at any time for the duration of the emergency only following which he must be returned promptly to the club from which he was Recalled.

(ii) Emergency conditions shall be established when the playing strength of the Loaning Club, by reason of incapacitating injury or illness or by League suspension to its Players is reduced below the level of two (2) goalkeepers, six (6) defensemen and twelve (12) forwards. Proof of the existence of the emergency conditions including the incapacity shall be furnished to the Commissioner of the League upon request made by him."

Next question would be: could this be a paper transaction and he follows the team to Winnipeg just in case they need another emergency recall for Saturday or would the league take issue with that?

Kaliyev should take another big jump in the next year or two. His shot is simply too good - and he has been working on the other facets of his game as well. Still loving the third line of Kupari/Byfield/Vilardi. The real issue is the consistency of our top line. If we had a true top line, we would literally have no issues.

Really bummed me out to hear TM's presser last night. From the mispronunciation of AK's name to the whole how you 'define' production....really frustrating to say the least. Will be interesting to see in the next couple years if the Kings don't get out of a certain round of the playoffs if RB will make a move on a new coach.
TMac is Terry Murray 2.0, he’ll help get us to the playoffs but a better coach will hopefully help us win some more SCs

Pretty much this.....this team is following the same track that the Cup winners did....minus the generational talent of Kopitar, Doughty, Quick at 23-18-24 etc however old they were

Agreed. I’ve said similar before. The structure and the system seems to be OK this season and the players that have earned trust have developed their games, both Kaliyev and Byfield are rounding out their games and the young D as a group have over achieved. Despite our valid grumbles over over use of the veterans the group as a whole has developed.

Not buying that Provorov could be had for significantly less than Chychrun just because Fletcher is looking to shake things up. I'd guess the price would be in the same ballpark, assuming they're even looking to move him.
Maybe “significantly” wasn’t the best word choice on my part. My thought is it will take 3 big pieces to get Provorov vs 4 big pieces ARZ is asking for. But even that really moves the needle for me.

I wonder if JAD got a flight to Calgary only to go back?
Had the player he was called up actually missed the game he would have had to be in Calgary right? Given he is from here maybe he got to say hi to his moms really quick before heading back down.

I doubt he ever left the Kings team once he got there. Kings playing 3D chess withing the CBA with a tough rodie and guys banged up since the plane left LA with minimums at forward.
