there's a offer sheet kappo kakko thread..$4.1M would cost a 2nd.
he has not shown that he should have been taken where he was, but i was big on him that draft year. Would be a funny move IMO.
Won't be so funny when they or another team returns the favor with the kings young players

Filip Forsberg would be an enticing add but you probably don't want to go after a guy who has a massive season just as his contract is up. You'll end up paying for his best season when he's unlikely to ever match it.
He’s been a real solid player his whole career, id take him. People said the same thing about Arvidsson and Danault.

if we take another swede will have to name change to the Vi-Kings - bring back the purple and gold with the crown - replace crown with vikso helmet

Well sure, but you might have to pay him close to the same as Arvidsson and Danault combined.
Well with Kopitar becoming ass, Byfield looking questionable, Turcotte questionable as well, don’t see any other options

none of the injured making the trip per practice notes today -- things are gonna get ugly fast. Meanwhile, VGK plays the Kraken back to back.

I've been happy with QB since being put with Kupari and Vilardi. There will be ups and downs but I think he is getting better each game.
Just a tiny sample size though. Being hopeful as a Kings fan rarely pans out so I’d still take Forsberg just because I have barely seen anything from the high drafted rookies to be excited about

Pass on KK offer sheet. The only reason anyone suggests it is because of how good he was at 17, time to evaluate him for how he has looked as a pro. It always amazes me how a lot people on HF will cling to evaluations of players when they were 17 but ignore what has happened at 18, 19, 20 year old seasons. I think everyone agrees that next year is a huge year for QB, well that "next year" is right now for KK.

Also, don't be so sure the Kings will have all this cap space to make speculative lottery ticket type moves like this. Next year the Kings will be paying $19m between Kopitar, Iafallo and Peterson. Kopitar will be 35 and is clearly starting to decline, Peterson has looked like a fringe NHL starter this year and Iafallo has been arguably the worst forward on the team for the last 50+ games. The Kings may be looking to add more proven (expensive) players if they want to compete for a playoff spot again next year.

I'm not on board with an offer sheet, but I disagree with this reasoning.

How they play at 17 vs. their peers is important, those are guys who they'll be competing with for best in the world again in their mid-20s when things start evening out (ie they aren't just kids, they have man strength and big-league experience).

How certain players look at 18-20 against grown ass men is important too but especially for 'big body' guys like KK and Byfield history has shown those years to be almost always relatively disappointing. The idea of taking a chance on one of those guys at a discount is a good one (though I fully agree w/you regarding the rest and why we shouldn't do it).

'vowels' can buy a consonant with his 4 mil, but can't buy a goal. the streak. 22 games. average TOI 18 minutes. 49 shots. 0 goals. TM should not be up for coach of the year, for putting him out on PP1 every game. Any other coach would have removed him by game 9 and moved him down to line 3 or 4.

I think there's a point to be made for letting a guy 'play through' something but at a certain point you're embarrassing them

I think all three of Kopitar, Iafallo, and Kempe are beyond that point and keeping them together is magnifying their issues

It's hard to tell what it is--with Kopitar and Iafallo they LOOK gassed/injured, with Kempe it just looks like he's returned to 'old' Kempe.

No thank you, Kasperi Kapanen is an expensive wannabe Trevor Moore and we have better options internally.

Folks, if we want a 'scorer', have to think bigger than guys who are 40-50 point guys elsewhere and account for the "kings tax" of offense.

it never fails to astound me how much we completely destroy 40-50 point guys on our roster and then want everyone else's similar toys...

The Kings will have over $21M in cap space available this summer according to CapFriendly.

Of course that number will come down once they re-sign their notable RFAs, such as Kempe, Lemieux, and Mikey Anderson, but they'll still have plenty of flexibility to make a significant addition, especially if they are able to move Iafallo this offseason.
Add a Top line LHD as well.

(1) Jeff Carters dead cap of $2,636,363 at the end of the year.

(2) Dion Phaneuf dead cap of $1,062,500 ends in 2022/2023.

(3) Mike Richards dead cap hit of under a million doesn't end until 2026/2027

Tonight may be the most important game of the year. We are two points ahead of Edmonton who also has a game in hand. At a minimum, it will play a huge role in determining home ice if the two teams play each other in the first round as seems likely now. In addition, it is going to be really tough to beat Calgary away on a back to back magnifying the importance of this evening. Two losses combined with the disaster this past Monday could put into question whether we actually make the post season.

Moreover, this could be a team defining game. We are 4-4-2 in our last ten games, and our young defensemen, fair to middling goaltending and lack of consistent scoring has really been exposed. So are the Kings the surprise team that has gutted out some big wins and put themselves in a strong position to make the playoffs? Or, have we over achieved and are now coming back to Earth? Yes, injuries have really hurt, but no one is feeling sorry for us. Team depth is a key requirement in a contact sport. A lot of questions are gong be answered this evening.

Getting Carts 2.6 million back is gonna help. DP the following season as well. That will be nice to be able to spend a little more. Maybe it will make a difference, maybe not. Depends on Blake's decision making but at least we'll have the luxury to make a mistake.
