And now Vilardi and Kaliyev are two of the more productive players on the team.

I know me and you vehemently disagree with each other, a lot, or at least we seem to, but my only real contention with any of your analysis is how you seem to think you already know the future.

You'll say well those two are putting up some points in spite of whatever is being done, but if they were playing poorly, that would be due to what's being done.

You'd say last year 100% hurt the franchise. I would say we don't know that yet. Then we'd go on to insult each other.

That's the problem - you don't make decisions based on hindsight, you make them by reading the terrain and using experience and common sense to judge the most likely course of events.

The expression "the proof is in the pudding" is a misnomer. If you don't have the right ingredients you better damn well know your dessert is going to suck before you start mixing it and serving it.

All the evidence anyone would need to see this coming was available at the end of 2015. There was no reasonable chance at success, yet they contracted themselves into a corner they STILL haven't escaped.

You can't have the inmates running the asylum. Its the devil of longterm contracts based on previous success - they only make sense if you are still in the thick of things and all available evidence showed that the run was dead as disco.

This franchise has been run on hope since Blake took over - the organizational equivalent of a blind Durzi chuck up the middle.

Oh goodness I just looked a how many more seasons Peterson is signed for. I didn't know it was 2 more seasons after this one.

can't lie though, i'll be a touch disappointed if that's the only move

can't just scapegoat the backup (no matter how shit he's playing) and move on acting like you fixed things

WORD HAS IT SEMEN CVALARMOV IS COMING TO LA

Yes any roster moves are just rearranging the deck chairs on the lusitania. Id say stand pat and let the slow motion trainwreck unfold and hopefully lead to a lottery pick.
I agree with this to a point. I think room should be made for Spence, Clarke, and Bjornfot now. Whether that is trading Durzi for a mid round pick and Walker going to Ontario or lost on waivers, so be it. Do not trade for a player for this season. Call up Byfield in January and have him play the most 5v5 time and pp of any center. If the Kings are still struggling, trade Arvidsson by the tdl. Either the youth turn the ship around or get a lottery pick. Win win.

Where are these Varlamov rumors coming from (ecstatic and stoned posters i assume).. there is cap space for him (at least until Iafallo comes off LTIR)

Yes what you said. Let the kids play and stop pretending about contending.

They didn't make the playoffs organically due to growth within the organization, they bought a 2nd line that while all quality, admirable players, only served to push REAL progress down while still icing a team that couldn't win a round against a weak opponent.

It was one step to the side, one step backwards.
Well progress is progress -- how you made progress does not change that fact.
But i agree with you I think. I want to see progress that is organically done. This is the problem. So i'm on the same page.

Even Gabe Vilardi breakout out this year. That is fantastic and great for the development and organic progress of this young team. Yet when you really look at it -- it's NOT. Gabe basically has succeeded in spite of the Kings development. He was almost an afterthought in their 2022+ plans (maybe he was an afterthought).

yeah how do you know? It's probably that Byfield won't become Crosby but he could come close which is what I'm holding out for.
Crosby will end his career in the top-10 all time players.

Byfield isn't even getting top-10 playing time among Kings forwards this season.
