Dumoulin for Walker straight up.

I'd guess they'd rather take Durzi. Cheaper, younger, more productive. If the Pens somehow aren't in the race by the deadline, they could probably get something for Dumoulin, so, if they did something now to try and stay in the race, I think what they could get at the deadline has to be taken into account.

Although Pit has 3 RHD of their own, and getting either Walker or Durzi would just give them the RHD on the left side problem. Plus the Kings don't have the cap space, assuming that Iafallo is coming back at some point, for that 1-1 straight up trade. Unless the Pens retain. But then they'll definitely want the cheaper, younger, more productive option coming back.

Pens fans were talking about his game deteriorating recently. Still probably an upgrade on Walker, Edler.
He would be a gigantic upgrade on the left side compared to Durzi or walker playing the off side.

Durzi has been a trainwreck on the left side.

Not surprised considering that they said he dropped weight. This kid needs a break.

Yep, this is the right move.

Kid def needs a break though, all of his seasons have been f***ing weird. Covid years, his ankle break, now two years of major illness, all undermining all his prep work for each season.

I’m hoping NEXT year is his Vilardi year, where he can just focus on getting bigger faster better and starts the season with no hitches. It’s impossible to play catch up in-season.

100%, now would you rather him play in the AHL this year.....or the NHL....given how well Kupari looks

I'd let him get on a roll in Ontario and build up his confidence for a stretch before recalling him. No rush if Kupari is able to play well. Hopefully QB can get back up to speed and take care of business.
That's what I am thinking....let me condition again, get a full season in......and use him as a callup for injury...but other than that, let him marinate

IMO, I think Byfield going down makes sense if he need to recover his strength from illness, but I also think he's suffering a bit for the sins of Todd. He would probably also be successful with Fiala, but bad timing combined with Todd's "inspiration" of moving Fiala down means that Kupari looks like a player and Byfield looks like a dud.

So TM trying to play Fiala on the first line, since Fiala is a first line player, equates to TM being an idiot? That’s what I got out of your post….

Ok....so.....Fiala is making Kupari look good......but Fiala....wasn't making Kopitar look good??

How about...Kupari was making Kupari look good.....

How long untill Blake finds a defenseman? Chychrun should be back soon. Wrist is still sore according to AZ fans. He's coming off ankle bone spurs & wrist surgery.

E. Karlsson, S. Jones & OEL are a few random D targets. First 2 are Righties. Could shift Doughty to left. All of them have large contracts. If we send Cal back, this would make their contracts more palatable.

With the deep draft, was hoping Blake would hold onto his first this year. Depth up front & value of that first right now, wonder if Blake makes a big splash in the D market this season instead of waiting for UFA's next summer.

Kupari is definitely good on his own but it's no question playing with someone like Fiala would make him look even better. Fiala and Kopi didn't mesh, which is something many people expected. Fiala didn't play much 5v5 with Kaprizov because it seems Fiala needs to be the big dog on his line, which is why so many people wanted to slot Fiala in with Byfield at the start of the season, and obviously his creativity has benefits for his linemates. Kupari is definitely good on his own, he's pretty much dominated whenever he's been in the AHL, I think expectations should be for Byfield to do the same

Eh it’s hard to say really. But hypothetically yeah he’d benefit but not as much Kupari who looks much better on his own than Byfield has. Byfield still plays like a fourth liner with not much skill.

Can we ask to borrow Macdermid for the next game against Florida?
No. Remember how defense was supposedly terrible with MacDermid? It's SO much better today. The only goals scored were during his 13:21 of ice time per game.

Get not being interested in those D. Just some top pair D that could be available now. Not a lot of teams looking to make a trade now. Provorov & Soucy are on teams that are in the hunt still. CBJ will probably try to extend Gavrikov still & only look to trade him near the deadline. SJ, Van, AZ can all make trades now.

Also think that a puck mover for the top pair is the most important. Shift Doughty to a shutdown role & get someone that will move the puck quickly to the forwards. King's can afford a high dollar D contract if they send Cal back. That opens up the possible targets. Sharks, Hawks, van might be happy to get out of a long term contract by taking Cal's contract.

Then figure out what is going on with that second pair. Mikey, Clarke seems like a fine second pair in a few years. What are they running untill then because Durzi, Roy isn't working.

2 wasted years, i would think about the burned elc years but I am starting to see how Blake burns elc's , limits playing time, then resigns on 2nd contract for much cheaper than it would have been if the players were given more toi to have breakthroughs.
