That's certainly what I would ask for. Given where NSH is they would need multiple pieces.

From the Kings standpoint, keeping Byfield and Clarke, it might look something like:

2x 1st
Spence
Kaliyev
Turcotte
Walker or expiring contract

For Saros and something else.
No goaltender has ever been traded for such a ridiculous package, they just don’t have that kind of value.

I would 100% send Byfield over in a trade for Saros. Especially since well be signing Auston Matthews in about 16 months…

For that package I better get prime Roy or Hasek lol

I wouldn't even give a half that package for saros

Seems like no credible pundits have been talking about the Kings. They are probably not gonna make a move it seems.

Idk. I like Ekholm. Even at his age and cap hit. He’s a much, much, much better version than Edler. Perfect mentor for Clarke and Spence.

I think he’s a safer risk than trading and extending someone like Chychrun or Gavrikov.

Yeah, thats the same way I see it. Just more expensive. He's got 3x 6.5 left and will be 35 when his deal ends. Chychrun 2x 4.6 left and will be 26 when it ends. Now on an extension he probably starts at 8x8 with an expected games played around 60 per year. That's the part I don't like about him.

This is the problem and why I don't see Blake making a goalie trade unfortunately.

Blake can't gamble here, he needs a sure thing. Saros is the only answer there. Too many question marks with Gibson/Demko class, not enough oomph with the others, just a dice roll.

Maybe Minny starts feeling confident and moves one of Gustavsson/Wallstedt, or at least a guy can dream
Yup, it's like choosing the form of the destructor. Just no good options. Fast forward to the off-season, the options are still over pay a legit starter, gamble on a Demko type, or go young. Could also sign a UFA then, but would need to clear Cap to pull that off. Tough call.

McDonagh? I can't believe this but I just looked up his stats and he's never had a minus season in his entire NHL career.
I know he's getting up there, but he is good defensively. Don't think it always shows up in the stats.

Chychrun 7+ on his next contract is frightening.

Agree on Chychrun. If we don't win Lord Stanley in the next 2 years that is not going to be a trade we look back at fondly. I doubt we want to keep him at that price, even if we have the room. I'd much rather see another Anderson (SAH) type over there seeing as how we have Clarke waiting in the wings for offense.

That’s the issue. If Chychrun were consistently healthy, he would’ve been traded already for a huge return. He’s clearly a top pairing D. But the problem is uncertainty, and like you said a looming 8x8 deal.

Ekholm is a cost controlled top four dare I say Mitchell/Scuderi. Yes, he’s going to continue to age and slow down, but I still see him as the perfect bridge veteran.

Chychrun will be 27 at the start of his next contract.

If he's re-signed for say 8x8M, that contract would take him from ages 27 to 34. Not too bad, but a bit scary yes.
