Gavrikov isn’t half of what Matt Greene brought to the roster, on and off the ice.

Dude is a big, soft, mediocre play driver. I don’t see the hype.
He’s comparable in today’s NHL. A guy like Greene or Regehr doesn’t really exist anymore these days.

Never said he’s as good as prime Greene. Just agreeing with another poster’s comparison in style of play.

I think people on this board (myself included) are hard after Gavrikov because he’s the only available top four defensemen who fills multiple needs on our blueline. Everyone else either costs too much or doesn’t quite fit what we need.
He isn’t physical, he doesn’t move the puck well, he doesn’t deny zone entries well, and he isn’t a particularly spectacular PK guy either.

If the guy was 5’11”, nobody would even be uttering his name. The guy is living on his size without actually using it.

Sanderson isn’t putting up points yet but he’s there soon to be crown #1 .. think Suter
Sanderson is going to be a stud, entry level for one more season which is nice. no reason to move on from chabot yet. But I agree he will soon move down the depth chart

If the Sens and the Kings are talking trades it has to be someone like Holden
Very likely. Which is disappointing but understandable as he will cost practically nothing.
We will get what we pay for.
He is probably better than Edler at this point but its difficult to see Holden in the top 4 being an answer.

How out of intrigue are they remotely similar? Greene was a mean SOB while Gavrikov would arguably be the softest player on our D. Gavrikov can actually make solid outlet passes and provide light offense. Outside of both being NHL defenseman there is limited if anything comparable. Really want to know where this idea came that Gavrikov is remotely physical yet alone some mean SOB. Way closer to the contrary if forced to pick a side.

Not to say I do not like him or would not want him... Yet nothing whatsoever the big physical, imposing, net front clearing, etc type everyone here keeps clamoring for. Some major disappointment about to occur if we trade for him.

Yeah Gavrikov is a lot more like a best-case-scenario Moverare than anyone like Greene.

Maybe we are making more than one trade. I really hope that our d looks like something like this in april:
Anderson - DD
Xxxxxx - Roy
Holden - Durzi
Edler

If you watch the video clip, he says the Leafs, Kings and Oilers have called about McCabe.

McCabe has a 7 team not trade clause. It's believed all the Canadian teams are on the no-trade-list except Toronto.

Just trade Walker for whatever you can and play two of Bjornfot/Mov/Spence; with Edler occasionally playing as 7th DM.

Then in the Off-season, they can make a big move for a LHD.

Prediction… Kings Acquire McCabe from Chicago and Swayman from Boston…

Walker and Petersons contract going elsewhere. Maybe one to Chicago in McCabe trade...

I don't see why people would be opposed to Holden if he's cheap and we can't get a long term solution right now.

I wouldn't necessarily be totally opposed to it

Just feels like a white flag move on something that's been an issue since June 2022. And as the clock ticks, the price on other moves will only rise.

I think it was DL that said when GMs know your needs and desperation they're gonna throw you an anchor, not a life ring. He's gonna get bent over the barrel on an LHD and a long-term goalie at this point.

The problem with Holden is that it's just even more kicking the can down the road. He does nothing to address a long term problem, and meanwhile the Kings have too many bodies in the organization that could/should/or are being gifted by the coach to play NHL minutes, and it's beyond time some be moved out

Best be prepared to give up a 1st+ just to get rid of Cal's contract.
Petersen will get a recall and a look before they do that and tonight means it’ll happen sooner or later. He’s looked much better in the AHL and is playing something close to ‘his game’ again. No idea where he is between the ears but, if they feel he’s in a good place, at this point there is nothing to lose.

So, who is about the become 'the next Erik Cernak'?

I feel that some prospect is about the become sacrificed between now and March 3.
I am sure GM's have their scouts checking in on Chromiak...as he now has 11 points in his last 7.
Possible soon-to-be Erik Cernak's:
Chromiak, Laferriere, Pinelli, Spence, Turcotte, Kupari, Bjornfot.
(Grans, Madden, Fagemo, JAD, Helenius, Hughes, Thomas, will never become a Cernak-level-regrettable loss)

Which means he would be smart to do nothing but Holden then, if even that. As we know, the Kings have plenty of bodies they can use. They don't need to make any trade.

Does it feel like Blake's job is on the line? Any indication somewhere? Where is the worry coming from that he'll do something stupid?

If he has to wait to be in a better leverage position, then he waits. Good or bad, where's anyone going?

I agree with everything you said, but I still believe in Helenius, and Grans.

I do not have opinion yet about Hughes.

Madden, Fagemo, JAD and Thomas I would trade yesterday.
