Only a few armchair GMs on this board expect to move Roy. Absolutely no real basis for the Kings to even think about moving Roy this season.
With young players coming up and in general anyay, you can not give up any semblance of toughness without getting toughness + other back or replacing it anyway.

“I don’t care if they’re drafted first overall or in the second round. I value Blake Lizotte’s ability to contribute to the team as much as I do Quinton Byfield’s,” McLellan said.
I know you have to say things a certain way in front of the media. But if Todd actually believes this statement he needs to go. I need the coach to focus more on the future 1C who has a massive amount of organizational capital at stake not the spark plug bottom sixer who is a great guy and more of a veteran known quantity. No wonder Lizotte gets more minutes. This is late-stage Darryl at his worst.
Jesus we are fuct while this guy is our HC.
Yea he was not the right coach for a rebuild thats for sure. He said in an interview recently a lot of the kids in Ontario are getting upset that they arent getting a chance with the Kings.
Gotta be frustrating seeing that itll be years before a top six spot even opens up. Fiala,Kopitar,Kempe,Moore,Danault,Arvidsson, and Iafallo as the first top six fill in are all playing at least a year after this and two way contract status will determine your future.

Ottawa is interesting, they need some cap relief and maybe trying to move Chabot. But that dude has a $8mill ACV so buyer beware.
Hope Blake isn’t looking that way, I’m not sure I’d do it even if they took Cal back. But he’s also on par with JC but locked up long term at twice the price.. unless they’re talking Cal + Grans + ???? I wouldn’t do it

That's what I think of TM, regarding his preference in how he values players. Blake Lizotte is a center and has worked hard and has risen from being undrafted to as valuable as anyone else....so he can center Fiala and Vilardi.
No matter that Lizotte cannot make plays on the level of Kevin or Gabe. No matter others have a higher skillset to be able to make plays with Kevin and Gabe and be able to achieve more overall success and more offensive output. Lizotte is TM's chosen one.

Chabot would be quite the LHD that can play in all situations and he logs 26 mins a game, only 25 years old. He's worth the 8 million. But how does that work, in terms of players and cap working?

Looking at their roster and prospects, one may wonder if Stoll is seeing Fin goalie Merilainen in Karpat.
He's looking to be putting up impressive numbers and only 20 years old. Of course, he would not be an answer for a year or 2, but the Kings would have a highly touted goalie in the system.

Maybe it’s an off-season move but you’d think it be
Petersen
Grans
Durzi
For
Chabot

Then
Iafallo
For
2 - 2nds
Portillo

If AI continues putting up points at his current rate then he’s possibly worth a late first… but think of it as a three way trade

Chabot and Merilainen would be a worthwhile package. Both teams are actually good trading partners.
Kings have spare right defensemen and good responsible depth forwards.
Ottawa has a left dman (that can eat some minutes and take some pressure off Doughty) and a potential future goaltender.

I like the idea of getting Portillo....but Chabot would cost more than that. Petersen is a minus asset and Grans does not really move the needle. It would be more like #1 2023, Pinelli, Bjornfot I would think. Although the ask would be for 1 of Byfield, Vilardi, Clarke + 2023 #1.

Is he wrong though?

I mean if you only develop on draft position....what happens to players like Point, Kucherov, Palat, Lidstrom, Robitaille etc, shit I can just keep going and going and going.....

Lizotte was doing what he is doing now, way before Byfield was drafted.....so your argument is that the Kings should jettison the player that is working, for the player that MIGHT be doing something LATER ON.....

Yea, imagine that message to the players.......holy shit.

Lizotte wasnt doing what hes doing now until last season. He had a pretty good year prior but not like this.
Him and JAD actually had poor camps last year and didnt make the team really.
Byfield got hurt at the end of a strong training camp as a center and Vilardi was centering Andersson and Tchakev I think it was to open the season.
Lizotte Lemieux and Kaliyev emerged as a really good fourth line out of that and its when Lizotte found another gear.

Really? Below is Lizottes stat lines....basic of course, but he's been doing this since before Byfield was drafted.....you might not have noticed it until last year.....but broke into the league doing what he's doing now....now he's doing it better, but nothing has changed.

I like the idea of Chabot, I really do. Scout him, decide, negotiate. Lets fkn go for it, if Blake thinks he moves the needle. I want to see the needle move not just some plug who is a LHD version of Walker. We have a growing surplus that needs to be addressed with transactions.
He's a good player, he would elevate our defense. Potential complete package as a player and might have another level we cant see if he stays in Ottawa. Blake might see him reaching it here. Definitely a dice roll with that contract. But this kind of player doesnt grow on trees. Chychrun is not as good as Chabot in the 2-way sense and will end up getting the same contract Chabot has now from whoever trades for him.
I like Merilainen on paper, only game I saw was the cancelled WJC. Has the frame, needs time.
Will bne interesting to see if this goes anywhere. At least its good to see Blake has other GMs in scouting us so talks are happening.
Can we trade for a head coach?

Yea he was good that first year. Hard to remember the lines but it was sometimes him with Kempe and Wagner maybe? and some nights they were only bright spot on the team.
They were just such a bad team those years his effort maybe didnt mean as much to the team as it does now.
Moore-JAD-Grundstrom was a good line one of those years also.

I mean it’s perhaps unrealistic, but Spence and Clarke are knocking on the door. I have to imagine that at least Bjornfot plays next season since he’ll be eligible for waivers.

So I guess we just replace Edler with Bjornfot and that’s what we’re looking at next year for now?

Anderson - Doughty
Durzi - Roy
Bjornfot - Walker

If you go for Chabot then obviously Grans, Durzi and Bjornfot become expendable..
AI can be moved for Portillo plus picks so that’s added value and I would seriously consider moving our ‘23 pick but would much prefer to move the ‘24 pick.
Kings
Thomas Chabot
Erik Portillo

Senators
LA 2024 1st
Buffalo 2023 2nd
Tobias Bjornfot
Sean Durzi
Samuel Fagemo
Cal Petersen ( cap purpose)

Sabres
Alex Iafallo

So again is TM wrong or do guys just have a burr up their ass because they don't like him, with this group I tend to think the latter because half the time they type with their dicks instead of their mind

Is TM wrong to not play rookies in top six roles is what you are asking? Yea I think so.
Most here think the Kings were wrong to try to contend and fill the roster from the outside immediately after tanking and before they even knew what they had in their draft picks.
Were on a message board talking about what we think of the Kings.
Are you asking if I had to choose between Byfield and Lizotte?
The answer would be Byfield without hesitation.

No in not caring about draft position, that's what got people all pissed.....as far as Byfield vs Lizotte, who spent the last 8 or so.games on LW1 and on the PP? But yea TM prefers Lizotte because of a comment.....

Jesus Christ....people invent stupid shit to get pissed over (not you specifically just in general with the other comments about that quote)

Isn't it the second year in a row that Blake's biggest acquisition is the Kings representative in the all star game? Has that ever been done before?
But sure monday morning quaterback his moves and non moves like he building the Hindenbeg because you can do better.

Phil would have someone to speak French with...so there's that too, I also say go for it and not wanting a journeyman LHD....but the Kings also need a goalie.

All lizzo is is a temp placecard for Byfield. Once guys start coming back, I expect QB at 3c and Blake at 4c. It would not surprise me to see QB at the 3c on this roadie at all.
