I think the plan with korpi has always been for him to be the playoff starter, and that the only way that wouldn't happen is if he fell really flat after the trade. He obviously has not, and while Copley has been good too, they're different calibers of goalie with different ceilings.
Exactly. And to riff off of that for a moment.. if Korpisalo(Corpus Hollow using voicetext lol) s**** the bed in the playoffs, we know we have Copley for the regular season next year. At that point we can decide to either offer Korpi an ext,or go after a better #1 & playoff performer this off-season.

Fixed the rotation per the posters below

Remaining 10 with alternating Goalies ( this is just a possible rotation based on what LA has been doing the last 10+ games )

Sun Mar 26 vs St Louis - Copley
Tue Mar 28 @ Calgary - Korpisalo
Thur Mar 30 @ Edmonton - Copley
Sat Apr 1 @ Seattle - Korpisalo
Sun Apr 2 @ Vancouver - Copley
Tue Apr 4 vs Edmonton - Korpisalo
Thur Apr 6 @ Vegas - Copley
Sat Apr 8 vs Colorado - Korpisalo
Mon Apr 10 vs Vancouver - Copley
Thur Apr 13 @ Anaheim - Korpisalo

Korpisalo would get Seattle, Colorado, and Edmonton 3 PO teams
only 1 on the road at Seattle , Col and EDM at home.

Copley would only get Vegas and Edmonton 2 PO teams but both on the road.

Do The Kings go with who does better down the stretch or go with the more experience one in Korpisalo with 9 PO games in 2019 ? I don't see a rotation in the PO's but I do see a very short leash.

I think you wait until the season plays out but the PO experience must surely act as the tie breaker if it’s a coin flip. I think you need to give one guy the job in the post season with 3 of every 4 games minimum. However, I certainly don’t know the character of either goaltender, I’d struggle to argue with a split because you really need to know them to strongly disagree with that approach.

To add: I think you commit to the play-off rotation with 3-4 games remaining in the regular season to allow them to get into rhythm.

Copley is starting tonight against St. Louis. Korpisalo played yesterday. I think the list should be swapped.

edit: wonder why Florida would not sign Krygier. do they have a Kings type of problem with many LHD prospects?
He is a borderline contract type guy. Could have gone either way, I have seen better guys sign AHL deals but also worse guys get NHL deals.

Florida was probably on the not-sign side and found a team that was on the sign side and got whatever the FC’s end up being for a guy they were going to let walk for nothing.

Alternate to the cup/elimination. I wouldn't trust either to carry the Kings through the entire playoffs.

I just looked at the remaining schedule and if nothing changes from here to the last day, it will actually be Copley’s turn in the rotation for Game 1. Personally, I want Korpisalo to start but something will need to change for that to happen.

You mean something as in simply playing Korpisalo in Game 1? Is the back and forth every game etched in stone?

Not to say Copley couldn't be in for Game 1. I would assume that means he's starting Game 2 then as well though, unless they lose 9-1.

“Lower body injury“. Like we don’t know what the problem was.

Swap the goalies. Korpisalo played yesterday so Copley gets St Louis.

Plus teams always want to do right by the player. Blake just traded Austin Wagner away for future considerations.

Nice thing to do give the most opportunity to a player that you drafted, even with another team.

the goalie rotation....it's working, right? So what happens in the playoffs?

I know there's time for one of these guys to drop off which will make the other the most likely choice, but is it an absolute bananas idea to think we would rotate goalies come first round? DISCUSS
Not intentionally only if your hand is forced.
I think Korpi is the number one, especially after yday against Jets.
He is so much quicker and more mobile for rebounds and multiple chance sequences.
I think the coaching staff was already leaning that way and saw the schedule as an opportunity to appear very neutral while Korpi gets the tougher games.

I would not want to be in the position where you start a series with Korpi and then have to turn to Copper for whatever reasons especially against teams like LV, Oil, Avs, Bruins.
It almost makes me tempted to start Copper and then have Korpi waiting in the wings.
That said it is big gamble because 4 losses in a series and the toast pops up out of the toaster.
As for the rotation it could happen if you lose go to your plan b goalie and that fails so you return to your plan A goalie.

Great discussion point post!

Smart move by Laf and his agent. They know the Kings want him in Ontario next season and not at Harvard, and they are going to make the Kings pay for it. A year burned off his ELC and an NHL game check or two into his bank account is a nice way to finish what was a great season for AL.
Anybody ready to say we got the better Laf out of the 2020 draft?
