The Kings did not get Korpisalo to sit in the playoffs.
He is their playoff goalie.
He is a far better goalie and more experienced in the playoffs.
In Joonas I (and the Kings) trust.
I think it's fair to say they got Korpisalo to stabilize their goaltending. The two expected goalies for the season had a significant drop-off in performance. They didn't get Petersen to pay him $5.5 million and play in the minors. Plans change.

Arvidsson NHL 1st star of the week

Well deserved. Not enough attention paid in retrospect to the fact that we did not have him in last season's series against the Oilers.

With Lizotte coming back.. and all forwards available.. i think Kings will have to think about putting Iafallo or Moore on the 4th line. Or do you bounce Lizotte there and keep Moore as the 3C. Id rather have Fiala on line 3.. as much chem as Fiala and Arvidson show, having 3 scoring lines will drive other coaches crazy. Plus it gives GV someone to work with.
1st line same
2nd line 12,24,33
3rd line 13,46,22
4th line 19, 89, 91

29 goal pace for Arvidsson.

Probably going to have to trade him in the offseason unfortunately.

I thought we wanted to trade this guy?
Who is this we? Do you have a mouse in your pocket? Or are you just not aware that people can have different opinions?

And I don't even think the prevailing opinion is "ugh he sucks trade him," just about everyone would agree he's been great. This issue is when his contract is up he'll be in an age group that is quick to fall off, and he'll also want a lot of term, do you think it's a good idea to give him a contract for a lot of term due to how he's playing now? The idea is you replace what would be big and expensive contracts with cheaper, cost-controlled ones and hope they can produce similarly. Pretty sure I've seen people paid to make those decisions do that before so you should be all for it

Nothing unfortunately about it, it’s simply a numbers game.. and his spot can go to either Gabe or Arty.

Maybe we can land a kid like Owen Pickering from the Pens since they’re likely to go all in this off-season with their aging core

Gotta know when to hold em, when to fold em, when to walk away, and when to run.

RV is a prime candidate for a “thank you for your service” as he collects way too much term & money from another club when he hits UFA.

Some people do, others don’t.

But you realize there is a salary cap that the Kings are up against and someone is going to have to be moved?

People who want VA moved don’t dislike him or think he is a bad player, just that he might offer the best combination of cap relief as well as return in a trade. Teams aren’t going to be giving up much if anything for guys like Iafallo and Walker, and the Kings would possibly have to retain.

Are you already assuming Iafallo is gone also, or maybe thinking 33 will fetch much more return than AI for about same savings in cap.. Id like Iafallo gone regardless and 33 if necessary to sign up GV, Gavrikov and Korpisalo plus all the misc items like Kupari

If you want to resign/extend Vilardi/Gavrikov/Korpisalo, I think 2 significant contracts likely need to be moved out.

People think moving Iafallo and Walker will be easy. I don't. Arvidsson is more easy to deal.

The Kings might have to consider moving Roy, which would be terrible. But not many other options.

Arivdsson will be easier, but then we're losing a 20-25 goal scorer with a 4.2m cap. Who's gonna cover those goals? Vilardi? He's gonna be scoring 40+ next season?

No one. It doesn't really matter. One of Kaliyev/Grundstrom/JAD gets a promotion in his absence and you hope for the best.

Blake's bad contracts are starting to catch up to him; Moore, Iafallo, Walker, Petersen.

Moving Iafallo, Walker, and two of Durzi/Grundstrom/Lizotte would probably account for all the capspace needed in the offseason. If they want to keep Lizotte and Durzi then theyd probably have to pay to unload Peterson instead.

Yeah, but easier said than done.

It's one thing to move a player, but it's another thing to move a player without taking any salary back.

If it comes down to keeping RV and moving Cal (vs moving RV and leaving Cal in the A), its an interesting call.. because you get some solid pick back for RV vs moving a solid pick to rid yourself of Cal's contract (and hope a replacement can get somewhere near his output). Whatever they decided is should not be at the expense of doing more reconstructive surgery on the d corps.

Agree. You would have to move picks to get rid of Iafallo Walker and of course Cal. Those are options that should be explored I think

I think they can find a taker for Iafallo and Walker without adding an asset. At least nothing I'd consider as a huge loss.
Cal of course is a different story.

It's so dumb and inaccurate for the FO crew to be jumping on the board saying people want Arvi traded for Fagemo. It's one guy who loves Fagemo. Stop trying to make something out of nothing. Why not be happy about the current team success

Everyone else when mentioning Arvi first & foremost want other lesser guys moved out in order to fit in team needs (LHD, Goalie, size). After this season though. But we all (usually) understand this is a business. If you can't find takers for AI, etc. and it means you can't sign one of more of Gav, Korpi, GV, etc. -- then Arvi is the only logical guy. He is very valuable and thus you will have plenty of takers while getting a good return. I'd personally look to trade Moore even before Arvi, but that seem unlikely considering the FO just recently extended Moore. Extending Arvi seem unlikely after next season anyway with Matthews coming (jk wink) and waiver exempt guys.
